Complete disgrace.
Sorry but I’m with trump on this one. I’ve watched a lot of these and half of these reporters are looking for a gotcha moment or caught up in semantics, not asking any decent questions. Guy kept looking for a gotcha moment and got called out for it. Context is important but twitter mob won’t get that context.
I find it interesting that you blame the press for his outburst.

The other option was a woman, Bob. A woman that went and got a Gmail account with asking her husband first.

OTPT's comment is one way to look at it.
Or, it's an incredible softball question lobbed over the heart of the plate and Trump choked and whiffed. Exactly what you'd expect from him.

I agree with Lawrence O'Donnel, these things are his new campaign rallies. He's thriving on the attention and his base loves it. The whole 'gina virus', 'fake news' and this meltdown all benefits him to his supporters. He's getting 90 minutes of free campaign air time.

Also, he called the state department the 'deep state department'. Another win for him and his base will love it.

Thought the reporter was doing a terrible job and deserved it. As trump isn’t immune to criticism, neither are they. But i know many here can’t have critical thoughts when it comes to trump. It’s one way or the other. No middle. America.

The reporter asked a question and that is his job. I thought it was abusive and embarrassing. We will have to agree to disagree on the reporter deserving it.

“Trump utterly lacks command presence and the requisite integrity and honesty to reassure scared people. That is why he lashed out @PeterAlexander. He is failing history’s test. He is petulant, dishonest, delusional and on the attack in the name of his political self interest.”

He's a diseased-riddled, drug addicted bloated sack of racist, bigoted pathetic christianity.
His disgusting behavior when America needs a leader should surprise nobody.
He can't boast about his silly economy that we all knew was fragile and built like a house of cards.. he can't accuse democrats of being evil "socialists" when his party falls back on socialism as capitalism spectacularly fails.
He has nothing except his silly antics that his media will dutifully amplify to distract America away from his obscene failures.
And once exceptional Americans fix this mess, he'll take credit for it and his knuckle-dragging white supremacist christian following and mainstream media will fawn over his "leadership".

Re: Coronavirus - The Political Side
U.S. intelligence agencies were issuing ominous, classified warnings in January and February about the global danger posed by the coronavirus while President Trump and lawmakers played down the threat and failed to take action that might have slowed the spread of the pathogen, according to U.S. officials familiar with spy agency reporting.
The intelligence reports didn’t predict when the virus might land on U.S. shores or recommend particular steps that public health officials should take, issues outside the purview of the intelligence agencies. But they did track the spread of the virus in China, and later in other countries, and warned that Chinese officials appeared to be minimizing the severity of the outbreak.
Taken together, the reports and warnings painted an early picture of a virus that showed the characteristics of a globe-encircling pandemic that could require governments to take swift actions to contain it. But despite that constant flow of reporting, Trump continued publicly and privately to play down the threat the virus posed to Americans. Lawmakers, too, did not grapple with the virus in earnest until this month, as officials scrambled to keep citizens in their homes and hospitals braced for a surge in patients suffering from covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

I agree with this take. I think the ‘Gina Virus’ messaging is effective and his press conferences are 90 minutes long campaign rallies that riles up the base. He doesn’t have to be an expert, or a good leader all he has to do is insult the press and piss of liberals. Yep, owning the libs.

Politico: House members, Senate aides traded stocks in early days of coronavirus
I predict no one gets anything more than a slap on the wrist over this. They all do it, both sides of the aisle, and they refuse to police themselves in any meaningful way. They'll all say "Oh, my financial advisor did that independently, without my knowledge," and it'll all get swept under the rug so they can get back to it.

Yes, if it was "bipartisan" that might be the case. Both parties will be incentivized to sweep it under the rug and very little happens. But also remember that Chris Collins was very recently sentenced to 26 months in prison for violating the Stock Act. He reports to prison next month.

I don't know all the details of the Chris Collins case, but some very cursory googling seems to indicate that what got him was passing non-public info to his son to trade on.
If I understand the STOCK act correctly (certainly not a guarantee there), if the knowledge is technically "public" (not sure exactly how that's defined), and the trades are disclosed (and I believe these were, which is how we know about them), then by the letter of the law, it's legal.
If anyone can clarify or correct me on any of these points, I welcome it. I have no particular expertise on this, so I'm sure I've got some pieces wrong.

You’re right. What’s at issue is that the information on the severity of the outbreak and what it might do to the markets was not public at the time that these ghouls dumped stock. Even if they find a technicality to get off they should burn for this.

You are right about Collins, but it still might serve as an example that this is taken very seriously. I would suggest that at the time, these people were working with private information that had not been disclosed to the public.

The best thing every network except FoxNews can do is ignore Trump’s pressers. Maybe Sinclair will require their stations to pre-empt regular programming o show Trump press conferences.
Any coverage done should include a crawl showing facts regardless of what is coming out of Trump’s mouth.

If we pass China in confirmed cases how much do you want to bet that Trump will REALLY start pushing the "China manufactured this disease" angle?
And his moron followers will swallow all the bullshit, just like they always do.

We have to hand it to Trump he's the master of spectacle. Just the way everyone stands obediently behind him is a powerful image and e knows where every camera is in the room. He's a master of performance and he knows what will drive ratings and clicks. He'll use shock, outrage, lies and racism to get everyone talking. It turns into a vicious cycle as these moments go viral over social media. His base thrives on it too. I agree 100% with you the press needs to stop airing these and go through them afterwards with only relevant information.

He definitely drives revenue for them. I err on siding with the press as being an invaluable source of information but they definitely have their own issues and challenges. Also, to be fair to the press he's a very challenging subject to cover. He's very good at exploiting media and it's one of his strengths.

I suspect he's just fine with how things are going. He has some data from Larry at larryshomeremedies/fakeinfections/hysteria.blogspot/livejournal.wordpress/facebook.com that refutes data from the CDC and other medical professionals.
