Being a Lions fan, I've never had the opportunity to really care about the NFL. College football might be a harder habit to break, but the rest of the world has never given two shits about it & survived.
What if big time sports became an afterthought in America?!?!?!
You can put me down. Of course it is summer, but I haven't missed sports much at all. 20+ year MSU football season tickets and have little desire to go to Spartan Stadium this fall. Probably because they are in rebuild mode and even if they do play and allow fans, there will be all kinds of restrictions in the stadium and tailgating. Meh. No thanks.

Agree. Especially college. It is going to be impossible go through a season with a team free and clear of the 'rona. No way you can have teams/coaches/players policing and making rules on quarantining sick players. Harbs or Saban aren't sitting their starting QB if he tests positive the day before a game. They either need to say 'fuck it, floor it, the 'rona ain't no big deal, let the kids play' or don't play at. And if you do the former and something bad happens, you have a lawsuit on your hands
On top of that college athlete's voice is becoming more powerful with everything that is going on ('rona, BLM and likeness rules).
Pro teams maybe. College, I just don't see it happening.
UCLA players are already making a stand.

It doesn't take long for kids to drink and go to bars. Maybe it's better that it's happening now and not in the fall (as far as playing).
Seems like to protect the cash cow (and coaches), that you'll have to isolate players from the rest of the student population (only on-line classes, separate housing and meals, etc.). And when students come back in the fall, you have added problems with dorms, cafeterias, apartments, Greek housing, bars...

I wonder if any teams/players will go prison rules and swap spit so they get it now.

I have almost no confidence that there will be football in the fall. I'm not feeling especially strong about the NBA starting in Orlando.

The Premier League just resumed on 6/17. I'm once again reminded of an overused quote from Winston Wolf.

So, i'm not sure if any of you guys are in management at Ford. I do know one guy that's up there, but I won't say this. Anyway, I'm giving a guy a motorcycle test yesterday. He's a guy at Fords. He's telling me how some workers are fudging the system with fake fever going into the factory to get a week or so off. Don't know if that's true, if the guy was just blowing smoke up my ass or whatever. But I can imagine if temp is taken all the time, you can fake it if you want and take a week or two with your boat. Again, not saying it's true, just a guy on a Bike getting an endorsement.

MLS starting July 8. NHL a few days later. Both could be halted, but as of now we will see.
It seems like the NBA's biggest obstacle isn't about the virus, and MLB seems to be doing their typical nonsense that they do whenever they need a new CBA, and fight over it all, while thinking they are WAYYYY more important to the sports landscape than they are.

I don't see how you stop a college kid from getting this. I've given up all hope my daughters won't contact it this fall. I pray they just aren't that effected by it. No way do football players on a campus "live in a bubble" Absolutely no way. So, the unversity ca't stop the kids form partying at night at houses and apartments or no social distancing at bars, so it will spread. But the university certainly can make a call on sports teams who have it and will be running into each other at high speed. It's going to spread like crazy this fall all over every campus in America. We'll have sports again, when we have a vaccine.

I don't think the social reform thing is going to be an obstacle. It's only a few voices, and while they have a very good point, I think the more important voices want to finish the season. And those important voices will also make sure that the playoffs aren't a distraction from other efforts.
I think the biggest obstacle at this point is Orlando and FL in general being such a hot spot.

Yeah, I'm not much worried about the reform. In the battle of Team Kyrie vs Team Lebron I'll take the the King all day every day. But Florida is an incubator right now because following professional medical advice became a god damn political debate.

Avery Bradley opts out of the bubble due to his 6 year old having a history of respiratory issues. That's relatively big news, he was a starter for the Lakers for most of the season.

Sounds like he was a total idiot about the whole thing and finding out he's an anti-vaxxer. To your point though I'm growing doubtful we see team sports this fall. May see an attempt at it but not long enough to complete a season or playoffs or whatever type of season they have in mind.

They're starting in the next couple of weeks, so I expect it to be around in the fall. Barring a big outbreak among players. Too much money at stake for all involved, including players. This is why LeBron "I ain't playing if there are no fans" James is now LeBron "Hey, um, maybe we should start playing guys" James.

Is there a vegas over under bet on amount of games they play? You could be right but I won't be surprised one bit if the seasons get scuttled.
