I do apple juice. Used to do Coke, but after an episode of gout many years ago I eliminated most high fructose corn syrup from my diet. The acidity in the apple juice can lead to heartburn though.

Are we talking spiced rum? Silver? Gold?

I tend to think that spiced rum is ass, only good with coke. A nice silver rum goes well with most juices and pretty much anything you would mix vodka with, in my opinion. I love Bacardi and Red Bull.

Brinley Shipwreck is smooth enough to drink straight on the rocks if the sweetness doesn't turn you off. Hard to find though.

Papa's Pillar seemed pretty good. A friend of mine had a bottle of the Platinum Blonde. I drank that straight. I'm not willing to spend the $$ on rum yet though that I do on Bourbon at times.

I've been drinking a lot of Buffalo Trace bourbon with a Stroh's lately. My wife's latest drink du jour has been tequila washed down with a splash of White Claw.

Started with a frozen mudslide. Very tasty. Then tried a shaken campari (shit's expensive). Yuck. Now trying my first negroni. Not bad.

My mom has stayed at my house the past week. This was normally a once a month thing until corona. We both enjoy it as it gives us a break with the kid, and we can focus on shit around the house.

Anyway, I made my mom and husband an old fashioned yesterday, and a margarita today. I’m living vicariously through them.

So, no gathering for Thanksgiving dinner but I am meeting some friends for a couple well distanced garage beverages later on. I happened upon a bottle of New Holland Beer Barrel Bourbon. Anyone try it yet? Decent or should I not insult everyone and bring something else? Buy local!

Haha, just seeing this now. So I started with Dark N Stormy's. Papa's Pilar had a recipe on their page, which I think is great and works with Bourbon as well.

Papa's Rum (or any decent rum not Bacardi), Dash of Bitters, Lime juice (sweetened), squeeze of lime, and ginger beer. I like it anyway.

Was quite enamored with bourbon barrel brews (Backwoods Bastard, KBS, CBS, etc) after first trying them. Took a little while to discover I didn't like them. Way too sweet.

Hopslam isn't far away. My favorite of seasonal brews.

Was definitely very sweet. Wasn't really what I was expecting. My friend thought it tasted like tea. I think maybe I could get use to it but really caught me off guard. Not what I'm used to when I have bourbon at all.
