I mean... Asians were always wearing masks even back then. So if probably say “this woman is taking a photo of her ice cream cone with a fancy camera.” Or something.

No way you would think that thing she's holding was a camera.

Also, were asians wearing masks then? Seems like that was more of a post-SARS thing, but I don't know for sure.

Yeah... Asians. I had a microsoft ce "tablet" not too far after that time period. Well maybe that was 2002-3...

I'm still waiting for flying cars. Or the end of the world... One or the other.

First palm pilot PDA was like 96, I think. Not sure anyone in that era would have any inkling what she's holding. Maybe a makeup mirror would be the logical guess.
