Nothing Like the End Around Play
When that QB steps back, you see a fake hand off to the rb and your eye catches the receiver off in the periphery in full stride ready for the hand off...what an explosive moment for fans watching football. More often than not the play is blown up for a loss of yards but if you have a receiver with some after burners I've seen this play spark an O and make some big gains. It's just such an exciting football play to see.

Consider yourself one of the fortunate ones. Very few people have ever seen such a thing. It’s my great hope you have children you can one day tell your story to, so that they may tell their children.

Re: Nothing Like the End Around Play
So I can go to sleep and know I haven’t neglected my duty as the resident shitty ex football coach I just want to straighten Steve out, and in doing so, help the rest of the board.
Fucking Steve described an end around not a reverse. Please keep these terms memorized. They involve a whole different set of blocking schemes, One involves more people handling the ball and one requires the hope of deception more than Mano a Mano block and speed.
The terms alone should simplify this, but obviously Steve screwed it up. A reverse requires the ball changing direction. A ball handed to one member of the.team running East who then hands it off to another member Of the team running west
Steve described trickery to freeze the LB’s up the middle and get the outside lbs to crash. We want the wr to run a corner down field and hopefully when the flanker is running like hell around (end around) at full stride we have that side of the field blocked and he’s one on one with a safety.
Thanks for your time. Steve change the title of this post. You can even call it a sweep if you’d like.

When I'm talking about sex I talk about the squeeze play.

You know what else is exciting? When the running back looks like they are going to run straight up the middle, hit the brakes, turn around and flick the ball back to the QB. Honestly I can't think of a single slow developing high risk/high reward plays that I don't like in football.

Thank you for changing the title of the thread. Please, everyone take note, when you post, you represent our family, you have the name of our family on your back, or in WBH's case, your shoes. People are watching.

I’m just glad I didn’t see DWags’ post before bed, because then I’d’ve been up all night wondering if Steve had ever really seen a reverse play.

Good point. Dwags, is there something modern you would like to see added to MSU's playbook? You ever sit in the stands and think my god they could do so much better on O if they just did _______?

Not Dwags, but the touchdown plays are always among my favorites.

I just want a good offensive line. Do you realize how much better our receivers and Lewerke would have been with a good offensive line.
Start there, then I’ll tell you what I’d like. But does it have to be with our personal, or can I fantasize?

Yep. What if I said I think Lewerke was better than Cook. ( before both of their injuries)

I'd say that may well be true. Cook was a gamer, but that comes from confidence. And QB confidence is easier to come by when you aren't running for your life.
