I’m not worried about this team. We see this from MSU every year. I saw Dukes Women’s Team shut it down. Let’s just hope the numbers go down and it’s safe to finish the season. Can’t wait for the vaccine and to end this nightmare.

The offense runs better with Loyer than it does with Rocket, OTPT.

I don't see it as the reason they are losing. The D is just bad. I have no clue how you shut down Duke then let Oakland score. Wisconsin put up 80 whatever on you. No go-to "shut down" guy to stop their hot hand.
Wasn't Rocket's athleticism supposed to handle that job? So, maybe we should be asking where Rocket should transfer to... Grand Valley?

I guess I’m not worried about the offense, but surprisingly I’m a bit puzzled at the lack of defense in some games.

I guess if there was some aspect of the game I’d be more confident Izzo will get worked out by March it would be defense. However it does seem like we don’t have that personality of a bad ass on defense like many of us are used to. I’ll be patient. But it is surprising.

Right now Rocket Watts isn’t playing a lick of defense in the Big Ten.

There’s a reason Loyer saw so many minutes against Northwestern and Hoggard may as well be on a milk carton because he evidently can’t play the defense or be trusted to run the offense at this time.

It takes a special player to jump right into Big Ten basketball. Haggard has to learn the offense, learn the defense, play both up to Izzo’s standards and with Tom’s unique ways of coaching, especially during practice, AND he has to lead the team on point. All the while taking classes and dealing with COVID at a time when his 18-year-old hormones want to check out every pretty girl nearby.
Give the kid a little bit of time to adjust to his new life and role.

Not knocking Hoggard. Pointing out neither he nor Watts are being able to play PG or defense as Izzo wants. When Loyer is seeing 25 minutes a game, at least 10-12 minutes are because Watts and/or Hoggard are on the bench.

Micro vs Macro. I don't think this will be a problem all season long. The problem as I see it is that it's December.

I mean, I don’t think anyone is panicking here. We also, all know Izzo’s track record of working shit out. I do think it’s fair to talk about what was the cause of both big ten losses. In my opinion it wasn’t our offense. Although against NW we did start out cold. B

Just looked it up and yes. Not sure how? Because he played a lot in the past four years. But it is. And he wasn't recruited by MSU so it's not like he chose not to come here. As I'm sure you're aware Izzo or any Coach isn't in the habit of giving out more than one PG scholly per class. I believe the slot that year came down to top choice Cassius or 2nd choice Jeff Jackson.

Izzo what's proven that more times than not he will get things done. Once rocket buys in things will improve quickly. His izzo feud right now he has to realize he won't win

If you want to look at from a purely statistical aspect the only real outlier defensively is 3pt makes. Teams are shooting them more against us. Percentage is also decent (36%) and it looks like teams are making about 3 more per game. It was just a quick glance and I only went back to 2015.

I see a twitter mob out for Kithier these days. They want him permanently benched....I dunno I just don't think this is the year to really rip an amateur athlete a new one. I guess at the end of the day I'm just grateful for the games. I also am thinking this just the usual December grind. Can't recall a year where an Izzo team hasn't been frustrating to watch during a stretch of the season. Feels like it's part of the process. Go Green!

You don’t need Twitter to find the trolls. I’ve been laid up with a bad back the past few days, so I’ve been reading TOB to pass the time. It’s not just schticks that are merciless with their comments about Spartan players. Some names I recognize from way back are brutal with their words about our guys. It’s ridiculous. These are students in their teens and early twenties, not paid professional athletes.

Missed this post but couldn’t agree more. I suspect the people I’m see on twitter on tob. The shit they write is just mean. I saw one game Kithiers mom blocked a lot of them and I think harms or solari got a statement from her. I don’t blame her it’s just abusive what they are doing.
