By this time next year, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman’s 2024 backcourt of Jase Richardson and Juni Mobley could be among the most entertaining in the country. After watching the duo combine for 31 points and 11 assists during a 90-63 win over Phoenix (Ariz.) St. Mary’s, the sophomores are already one of the best backcourts on the West Coast and look to be ahead of schedule.

They are both baby faced but don’t let their young appearance fool you because they are each highly skilled and have some killer in them. The son of longtime NBA player Jason Richardson, Richardson goes about 6-foot-2 with long arms and is a real playmaker off the dribble who can get in the paint to make things happen with regularity. He has superior body control, knocks down jumpers with confidence and isn’t likely done growing.

Mobley probably isn’t quite six feet tall yet and plays some off the ball, but he can really shoot it from deep and has advanced footwork and shot preparation for such a young player. He might not be the biggest, but he doesn’t lack for toughness and confidence.

Arizona state, Michigan State, UNLV and Washington are among those to offer Richardson while Mobley holds offers from Arizona state, Toledo (he’s originally from Ohio) and UNLV among others.

Jase Richardson because it is all in the genes. He plays a different brand of basketball than his father Jason, but the explosion does come in flashes. The lefty guard shows a natural feel for the game and hardly ever forces the action when looking for opportunities to slash to the basket. The upside definitely works in his favor and his growth will certainly be exciting to watch.

Recruitment: Richardson holds six offers from Arizona State, Eastern Michigan, Michigan State, UNLV, Washington, and Western Illinois. However, he last told 247Sports that Cincinnati and Pac-12 programs Stanford, UCLA, and USC have been the schools who he has recently heard from the most.

I don't know where the 2011 recruiting thread is, so I will ask here. Does anyone remember the name Javontae Hawkins from Flint? He was 2 years at Powers before going to Huntington Prep. Did Izzie recruit him? He is currently playing in the BBL (Germany) finals.

Side note: It is remarkable how diverse basketball is today. Before, these Euro teams were 80% college stars. Now teams only have a couple from the NCAAs along with players from Brazil, Australia, Philippines and of course Deutschland (thanks Dirk).
