Not surprising. They would rather see kids in sweatshops instead of school and, god forbid, pay people a living wage.

So you're saying they are all just lazy....TrapperGus wrote:https://twitter.com/MichaelRStrain/status/1451903993261740040?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1451903993261740040%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailykos.com%2Fstory%2F2021%2F10%2F25%2F2060045%2F-Abbreviated-Pundit-Roundup-Is-this-the-week-the-logjam-breaks
I know this is anecdotal but I found it interesting... My son's friend's parents run a bar/restaurant in town, they have like 4-5 kids. I've never seen the parents or the kids working there, but they have a big sign out front about not having enough workers. Makes you wonder.

Not saying they are lazy at all. The overriding message is that covid has caused the issue, either by people valuing their health over a job, by people not being able to work because they have to take care of their kids and others, or because people are not willing to work for poor wages and worry about getting covid.

If you trust the invisible hand, you don’t insert government regulation into the market. Of course this is where it leads.

we say it/think it all the time, and we have become numb to it..
but it's hard to believe how far the Republican party has fallen since the election of their christian hear just 5 years ago.

Free Markets are of course the creation of a certain set of government regulations. Without the sanctity of contracts Free markets are impossible.

Right, imagine a capitalist world without trademarks and copyrights and a military to protect the homeland of the corporate entities... true libertarians are anti-capitalist. Rs pick and choose.TrapperGus wrote:Rocinante wrote:If you trust the invisible hand, you don’t insert government regulation into the market. Of course this is where it leads.

Just saw that J&J has spun off the baby powder into a separate corporation to run away from having any responsibility for their poisoning of the country.

Who do you all expect to salt and bag your fries?
Who do you expect to flip and build your burgers?
The GOP is anti-immigration so we can’t import more people for shit jobs.
My long deceased father (born in 1909) dropped out of 9th grade to work at Globe Knitting Works and was able to do so because MI legislators had carved out exceptions to child labor laws that reduced the hiring wage from 16 to 12-14 for selected employers like Globe, bakeries, stockroom at retailers.
West MI didn’t have auto assembly then so the biggest industrial employers were furniture factories and appliance makers that hired 16 year olds.

Republican States seem to be making good progress to take us back to the 18th century.
