Can we just embrace the whole little brother thing?

I'm more annoyed by people who fight being called little brother. Who fucking cares? Just win.

Even worse is when people then get childish and call UM little sister. JC you sound like you're 6 years old when you say that. I also take a little offense,  because I am the little sister of 4 older brothers.  And I could certainly kick some serious ass.

So drop it. Embrace it. Little brother beat your ass again. We should own it, and keep getting those Ws.

Responding to Little Brother with Little Sister is embarrassingly bad. I enjoy leaning into it and embracing the little brother role. Insinuating that big bro is a has-been whose time has passed is my go to move.

That used to bug me when I was a student. Then I realized it was legit just another well-meaning nickname. I got over it then.

Maybe too in my travels when people yell at "Sparty" when seeing me wear my stuff. They're not affiliated. Just showing some support/respect.

It doesn’t make sense either. If anything “big sister” at least, but even that is cringe.

The whole thing is just fed by the wal marters. I don’t really associate with them in my personal life so none of this is a problem for me. I’m sure we all know at least some self respecting Michigan alums and they don’t do that shit, they know it’s nothing but embarrassing at this point.

I guess, in 10 of the last 14 years when I hear shit like that I often just say "scoreboard" and leave it.

When I hear the term little brother I've always visualized that smug little shit saying it on camera. The image has become less irritating over the years since Dantonio & Tucker have made little shit and UM regret what he said.

Didn't care for the term Sparty years back with reasoning similar to yours. Then it dawned on me Sparty is the best, most endearing mascot in all of sports. ESPN and others have promoted MSU by using Sparty in their ads. Sparty has become something akin to America's mascot IMO

While they've been running their mouths we've been running them out of stadiums. While their arrogance is even more annoying now than it was before Dantonio, I hope they never stop, because it's even more comical. It's almost the diamond anniversary of their last undisputed national championship and they haven't done shit since. They caught lightning in a bottle with bo in the big two little 8 era and that's it since Truman lol.

I laugh every time a U of M person utters the words little brother. Mostly because they are too dumb to get how badly it backfired.

Yeah, it does make me laugh a bit. It is a reminder of the exact moment when the rivalry flipped.

Havent been bothered by little brother in several years. Yeah, I was peeved the first couple of years, but I’ve embraced it in large part for the same reason said by others; it lit a fire in the rivalry and we’ve been torching them since then. I admit, every once in awhile, I’ve called them old hag big sister, but only because little sister was just the dumbest f’ing response ever. It made no sense.

As for Sparty, I’ve accepted it for the most part. It was much more difficult because the term was originally intended to insult and piss off Spartan fans by the often-unemployed Ggggregggg Henson. It worked. I wanted to throttle that POS.
Since it’s become a term of endearment, it bothers me a whole lot less.

So we all seem to be in agreement. How to get all the other Spartans to just embrace it?

Little Brother is all they have left to try to claim superiority in this state. They can't do it on the football field so we might as well let them have the one little joy left in their sad, pathetic lives.

I think it's more beneficial to Spartan football that they embrace it. I mean it's worked so well for them.

“Little brother” has turned out to be the greatest motivating phrase ever uttered by a umaa player.

Mike / Bike Hart gave MSU a “Jelly of The Month” certificate. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Never, ever let it get dropped. I hope the entire “Little Brother” quote shows up on MSU football bulletin boards for as long as MSU has umaa on the schedule.

I kept silent because I didn't want to argue, but I don't want it to be accepted - especially by the coaches and players. When it comes from guys like Hart, Lewan or Winovich, I want it to be seen as what it is: disrespect and dismissal. That's what has fired up the football program, and I never want it to be seen as anything but an insult.
