Most likely going (gonna fly). If we make it a long weekend, what is good to do in Atlanta?

I've got a place to stay in Atlanta. Not sure if the wife would approve unless I brought her along.

Re: Anyone want a ride to Atlanta?
Thanks, man. I'll check on my availability.
Driven I-75 so much over the years to/from NC (to Knoxville, them I-40 east to Asheville).
Good drive once you get out of Ohio.
Say hello to "Big Bone Lick" State Park in Kentucky for me.
Then, in Tennessee, there is the big cross sponsored by a local church overlooking the adult bookstore. I remember grabbing a Reba McEntire t-shirt at the truckstop on that same exit.
Good times. Enjoy.
Go Green.

Who has the decent priced tickets where the players don't look like ants? Are the uppers a good seat? They are pretty decent priced on StubHub

There will be plenty of tickets on the resale market. A package deal with next year's CFP semi will have a lot of Bama, Georgia, Clemson and brokers dumping their Peach Bowl tickets. Wait it out. MSU is the home team.

A few touristy things off the top of my head that I've been to or know of:Nordic wrote:Most likely going (gonna fly). If we make it a long weekend, what is good to do in Atlanta?

Zoo Atlanta - One of only 4 places in the US that has pandas.
Georgia Aquarium - Only aquarium in the Western Hemisphere with whale sharks.
MLK's house, church, tomb and some other Civil Rights landmarks.
College Football Hall Of Fame - Unfortunately, I haven't been able to make it for one reason or another when I've been in Atlanta. Maybe next time I'm there (maybe late December, but that's probably a long shot).
CNN tour (sorry, Bob)
Coca Cola tour - Never been, but some people like it.
The original Chick Fil A - Its actually a sit down diner, and get this....in addition to chicken, and contrary their years and years of marketing, they do have beef on the menu (burgers, steaks, etc.).
Generally, the downtown area seemed nice. The Aquarium, Hall of Fame, CNN, Coca Cola, and the stadium are all walking distance to each other. Centennial Olympic park is right there, too, which was nice to stroll around.

Have they said which side MSU will be on?
Of course, the Pitt side will probably end up cheaper. Might want to check out the Pitt ticket office, as that will probably be easier and cheaper than the secondary market or the MSU ticket office.

It's always fun staying at the team hotel. Maybe the Marriott Marquis or Omni? Not sure yet. Easy to walk to MB from there. Maybe spend game day/night there if you wanted to hit the GA Aquarium and College FB Hall of Fame.
Or get a room at The Battery (area by Braves stadium). Enough bars/restaurants there to keep you busy and will be hopping on 12/31 with Georgia playing.

I guess I could be snarky and list some of the people you could ask, but I won't.
I was speaking of Stubhub, Ticketmaster (has resale tickets also), GameTime, etc.
Maybe Pitt will bring a ton of fans, but I expect there will be plenty of tickets available. Peach Bowl generally has an SEC or ACC connection to help sales. Obviously not this year.

This place just recently opened. Right by the stadium. Might be booked already, but give it a shot.

I’m just tired from driving and flying altogether. I have no idea why the wife and I bought season basketball tickets, but it feels like I’m back when the eldest was on the dance team. Away games home games both sports. I think the wife and I are going to get the wild goose inn Dec 29, watch high point vs msu and either stay in EL and watch the game somewhere fun or drive home to watch it.

Depends on what you want to spend.
aloft at The Battery is $200/night I think.
Cheap compared to the Omni.

Plus weather in Atlanta around New Year's can be a little iffy. It's a great fall/spring town. December and January...not so much.

You can walk to MB from any of the big downtown hotels. Uber should be fine if you're out in the burbs a bit, or Marta. Uber post-game might be a little difficult.
If I was coming from out of town, I would stay downtown on 12/30. If I wanted to just hang out for a few more days, I'd stay at The Battery.
If you're flying in, there are a few hotels off of Camp Creek Parkway that you can shuttle to from the airport and then shuttle back to the airport and hop on the Marta to get downtown. Those are a little cheaper.

Good option. Areas near Piedmont Park are nice. Some decent restaurants/bars. Not close enough to walk downtown, but far away enough if you're not a city mouse.
I think The Nook is owned by a Spartan. Or used to be anyway. Easy to Uber from there.

Booked the Marriott. Sounds like that is team hotel. Can cancel. $180/night. I don't think you can stay at the Troy Marriott for that price.
Lots of tix on Stubhub. Flights are cheap. Will check.out the tailgate link you posted.

If you're at the Marriott Marquis, you can walk to MB. It's a mile away. Unless you're really big into tailgating, I wouldn't bother with a parking pass. In fact, I would recommend against it. You'll just be stuck post-game and mad you didn't just walk. Plenty of bar options pregame (hotel or otherwise) or the Fan Fest (if you have kids).

Yeah it's a very cool place. Most fun when you book the whole place with friends. And you can crawl back and fourth to the PB.

Always click the "with fees" button.
Wait as long as you're comfortable.
I think there will be tons of resale tickets, and prices will only keep going down. MSU is in the bottom left corner. Pitt is in the top right corner. Best deals should be in the non-team corners which were purchased by fans just to get the CFP semi tickets in 2022.
Don't panic. Watch prices come down. They will (unless Pitt brings a crap load of people). I wouldn't be shocked if the general public will be able to get tickets from MSU (after they run through all the donors), if you want to sit in the MSU section. I would not sit in the upper deck in the corner though.
