2-4 police involved. Rumor is they were there investigating a shoplifting. Haven’t heard the condition of the person shot. People whose cars were roped off within the crime scene had to wait for police to release the scene before they could leave.
And now, I’m going to violate my personal rule and leap to a conclusion that’s not in the public record regarding this case:
STOP SHOOTING PEOPLE FOR LESSER, NON-VIOLENT CRIMES.
Even if the above statement turns out to not be an issue with this particular case, the statement stands in general.

I saw in a report that the subject was bobbing and weaving through the parked cars, that alone right there is reason enough to shoot him.

Police shooting outside East Lansing grocery store injures 1
At a press conference Monday night, East Lansing Police Chief Kim Johnson said police were called to the store on reports of a weapons complaint. He said a man was seen taking a weapon from a car and placing it in his pocket before heading into the store.
Johnson said when officers arrived on the scene, they saw a man matching the description inside the Meijer and a foot chase occurred that ended with shots being fired outside the store. He said the man was struck by gunfire and was taken to a hospital and he is expected to survive.
Police said a weapon was recovered from the scene.

Per the NRA handbook, anywhere right of tan should be considered armed and dangerous. Left is a patriotic defender. Tan depends on how they are dressed.

The holy hell shit fit they threw about Ruby Ridge (and others) compared to silence regarding Philando Castile proved the inherent racism.

Yep! That qualifies for immediate execution without due process.

Re: Officer-Involved Shooting In the Lake Lansing Road Meijer Parking Lot
A couple of months ago the Wyoming MI Walmart had a shooting in its parking lot around 5:30 PM.
In that case a man saw a man dropping off his former significant other as he was leaving the store. So he went to his car for a gun then found the guy and shot him as he tried to run from his car.
Without knowing what happened I won’t blame police at this juncture. There are a lot of folks with and without CCP’s who may have a gun on their person or in their car ready to use it.

Sounds like an armed robbery attempt. Still don’t know why the suspect was shot.

To be fair these are assholes posting on a message board so the stakes are actually incredibly low compared to the representation you tried to draw from it

But I don’t think that it’s really on people to wait for facts to come out when it comes to police shootings as those facts always come from police and police have a well documented history of lying and being misleading when it comes to those facts they give you. Maybe these situations are fucked because we have given blood thirsty dimwits the ability to be above the law.

aren’t you painting with several different broad brush strokes in this sentence yourself?
Despite that, I understand what you’re going for and I think it’s a bit more complicated than that if I’m honest with you otpt.

Appears a shopper saw a person with a gun in the store. The armed person left the store
ELPD officers responded to a call about a person with a gun, confronted him in the parking lot and there were multiple shots fired.

Lake Lansing Meijer Shooting
So a person with a gun entered and exited a store without incident in a state where "it is legal for a person to carry a firearm in public as long as the person is carrying the firearm with lawful intent and the firearm is not concealed" and was subsequently killed by police?
So far it's walking & talking like a duck. We'll see if it quacks.

Sorry. Shot by police. It was the other story where someone was killed. It's so hard to keep the results straight from the endless procession of shootings in 'Merica.

Re: Officer-Involved Shooting In the Lake Lansing Road Meijer Parking Lot
"I have a caller that advised for a 20-year-old Black male, he was wearing a yellow and black jacket with a mask covering his whole face except his eyes, pulled a gun out of his car and went inside the store, caller’s advising that the accused walked in through the grocery side. He’s not threatening anybody with it, just walked inside the store."
Eyewitness account: "The woman described seeing he East Lansing officer drop his taser in front of her car, pull out his gun and shoot the man he had been chasing. She said the man who was fleeing did not have a gun or weapon in his hands at the time he was shot.
"The second officer, who was cutting through the parking lot behind the woman's car, fired about eight shots at that point, despite the man having his hands up, the woman said. After police handcuffed the man on the ground, the woman said in the video that they searched him and did not find a gun""
I'm gonna withhold judgement until I get all the facts though. And by all the facts I mean the officially sanitized and coordinated police version.

Flinging lead several times in a parking lot vs a black guy that might have had a gun. Hmmm, I wonder which one is the safest circumstance in which to be a bystander?
