U-M's Clark: MSU game personal for them, not for us

“They did their job playing us, that’s all I can say,” Clark, a senior defensive end at U-M, said this week at the Big Ten media days in Chicago. “When I say we lost most of our games by a combined 11 points, I’m excluding the Michigan State game, because they did their job and beat us. They did what you’re supposed to do when you have a dominant defense.”

He understands the back and forth but also sees the difference in approach.

“Basically, against State, it’s more of a personal thing against us,” he said. “But it’s not too personal (for us) because we look at it like it’s just another game. That’s how we’re going to continue to look at it.”

I saw a comment or post somebody made recently, can't remember where I saw it or who came up with the thought, but if u of m is making Frank Clark one of their spokesmen that speaks volumes about how much they trust the rest of team.

It was nothing personal when he broke into an apartment and made off with some loot, either. He was just doing his job.

Until they take this game seriously, we are going to have the edge. We want it more.

Yup. 5/6. I hope this attitude translates to the next coaching staff but I have a feeling it won't. By that time it will be at least 6/7 or 7/8, so I can see the fans getting fed up with the "We don't care about State" shit by then,

Yep. 9 times out of 10, this game will mean more to us than them. I have no problem with the comments, as that gives us an edge.

No. This fits Hoke's narrative much more than Clark's. This attitude is from the coaches and the players are acting it out. Just like when Cook said "That's Michigan". He was immediately scared of the consequences. I bet Cook had some running to do after. Clark will be just fine. And there's your difference between the two staffs.

One staff trains their players on and off the field. You conduct yourself like a man.  The other staff is arrogant and expects wins because of a uniform. They let their players talk trash non stop.

We're going to crush them again this year. They know it... all of them.

Saying that Dantonio is a psycho and will use this as further motivation to get his players to constantly play witha chip on their shoulder and feel like underdogs. Says the scout team will have Frank Clark's face on it during practice week.
