U-M's Clark: MSU game personal for them, not for us

I'm not a MV lover or hater but happened to catch some of this on my way to golf league this afternoon. It was biting. And fair. He nailed it. UM fans agreed with him.

Saying the arrogance is systematic. "This is Michigan". No one says "This is Bama", "He's a Bama Man", etc. Not the kids' fault. They are brought up believe they are better and don't have to put in the work to see things through. Michigan right now is a program built on gimmicks - Team 134, the Tom Harmon jersey, the "winged helmets", the history, the Michigan Man, etc. Basically his contention is that they are ND under that fucking that fucking that fucking that fucking bob Davie. Shut up and win football games.

Pretty good skewering, and all fair.

Edit, I lost concentration while typing this and no idea how I wound up with "that fucking that fucking bob Davie" but I'mma leave it there cuz it's hilarious.

Yes, but in a different way.

You have to remember that Lloyd won A LOT of football games. But every time Lloyd lost, he'd start the presser with "We're Michigan, we don't make excuses...". And then he'd give 5 minutes worth of excuses. Things like "the field was crowned" or "it only rained when we had the ball" or "we deserved better". And the media to this day says that Lloyd Carr never made excuses. It's BS, he ALWAYS made excuses, and he made BAD excuses, and no one called him on it.

There was saying about him: "There's 2 L's in Lloyd...". It is at least partially why UM fans turned on him. I bet they wouldn't mind going back to those 2 loss seasons now.

FWIW, Lloyd now spends a lot of time raising money for charity. I can't dislike him now, but he was the classic insufferable UM asshole when he was the coach. He was just smart enough to not be over the top with it, so the casual fan wouldn't be put off by what he said.
