I have Roku and love it. Better quality, no bugs.

Is it saying that it mirrors your phone onto your computer? I can't really think of why I would want to do that (If I'm more than arm's distance from my computer, then it's not all that much of a screen size upgrade over my phone being 2 feet away from my face). But you're far more techie, so are there some cool uses that I'm not thinking of? Or am I misinterpreting what this new feature does?

Mirrors your phone to your TV.

Re: Roku 3 vs Chromecast
That's what I thought it meant at first, but it says it mirrors it to the Allcast extension in Chrome. Isn't that referring to the Chrome browser on the computer? The description of the Allcast app says, "Use the AllCast app to send photos, videos, and music to the Receiver app for your Chrome browser seamlessly!"Heat Miser wrote:

So you use Allcast to mirror it to Chrome on the computer, and then cast it from Chrome to your Chromecast? Sounds like a workaround, if that's the case, but better than nothing, and should allow to play videos from your phone that aren't Chromecast compatible.

You're right. Couldn't get it to work though & doesn't look like it's a true mirror. Just extending the Chromecast functionality to the desktop. Like you originally said, not really sure it's all that useful.

Re: Roku 3 vs Chromecast
Ended up getting an Amazon FireTV. So far I'm impressed, but it doesn't take a whole helluva lot to impress me. Easy to setup and use, bluetooth remote with voice recognition. I ask for an app and it goes and finds it for me, downloads and installs it. 30 days free of Amazon Prime and I will more than likely keep that. You can also play games through it, most of them need the game controller though, about $40 for it.
