Justice for Bono
Saw Bono on CBS Sunday Morning plugging his new memoir which looks amazing btw. Can't wait to read it and learn more about such an elite artist.

Seems like an incredible dude and obviously one of the greatest front-men of all time. Got me thinking when did it become cool to bash this guy? Where did this toxic group think start? My wife's personal assistant was at our house and she couldn't believe I was listening to U2 a short while back. Couldn't believe I was listening to U2???? WTF? Born in the 90's and raised on decades of Bono bashing. Enough is enough.

Re: Justice for Bono
any albums after "The Joshua Tree" I have a hard time getting into (though "Rattle and Hum" is a great live record...."the god I believe in isn't short of cash, mister").. but those early records like "Boy" and "October" were something else. The EP "Wide Awake in America" has a great version of "Bad", as well.
oh, and "One" is one of the greatest songs to come out of the 1990's.

Achtung Baby and Zooropa still do it for me but definitely a departure from those other classics you cited.

"40 years after their show at Dooley's, U2 came back to East Lansing with an amazing show at Spartans Stadium. During that show, U2's lead singer, Bono, spoke about their first time in East Lansing when someone took a chance on them.
That someone happened to be Mr. Dooley, and the band has never forgotten his kindness to them. Bono remembered how Dooley took a chance on 4 young lads from Ireland back in 1981 and that they are forever grateful. Mr. Dooley was in the stands for that Spartan Stadium show and got to hear the band, in person, give him thanks."
Pretty cool and can't imagine how good that must have felt.

Yeah, sometimes that one comes on during random shuffle and I'm like 'who put this shit on my phone and then it's like oh wait it's that album'.
Not their finest moment but certainly doesn't outweigh the good.

I've had it pop up on my phone a couple times lately and I'm wondering how the eff did that get on there, and then I remembered.

I felt the same way back when I could hear but you are both right about that first stuff. I distinctly remember the first time I heard "I will follow" coming out of a dorm room and thinking I have never heard anything like that before.

Yeah, the run they had was unbelievable. I was listening to Miss Sarajevo around when the Ukraine war started...pretty damn good song that features the Opera GOAT Luciano Pavarotti.
Also, in an effort to be open minded I tried to listen to Songs of Innocence today(the free iTunes album) and yeah it's definitely a serious step back from their prime. To be fair it seemed on par with most of the new music I hear these days but when I say that stuff stinks I get an 'Ok Boomer' but when I say this album stinks everyone seems to be in agreement.

Re: Justice for Bono
One of my first faves... first album bought was Unforgettable Fire. Saw them at Silverdome in probably 88? Joshua Tree.
That said, don't listen to them too much anymore. Not sure why, maybe I should.
