This is one of those things that will never happen but it took a congressman to bring to people’s attention that maybe we have a health hazard in our house that we aren’t thinking about.

I have no idea, about the regulation of that industry. Do they have certain regulations for emissions from the stoves? It never ones crossed my mind till I heard about this the other day.

With 40% of American household having gas stoves, they will never be banned. But it’s never a bad thing to look into the regulations.

studies have found these stoves emit significant levels of nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and fine particulate matter – which without proper ventilation can raise the levels of indoor concentration levels to unsafe levels as deemed by the EPA.

“Short-term exposure to NO2 is linked to worsening asthma in children, and long-term exposure has been determined to likely cause the development of asthma,” a group of lawmakers said in a letter to chair Alexander Hoehn-Saric, adding it can also exacerbate cardiovascular illnesses.

The letter – Sen. Corey Booker and Sen. Elizabeth Warren among its signers – argued that Black, Latino and low-income households are more likely to be affected by these adverse reactions, because they are either more likely to live near a waste incinerator or coal ash site or are in a home with poor ventilation.

In a statement to CNN, the CPSC said the agency has not proposed any regulatory action on gas stoves at this time, and any regulatory action would “involve a lengthy process.”

“Agency staff plans to start gathering data and perspectives from the public on potential hazards associated with gas stoves, and proposed solutions to those hazards later this year,” the commission said in a statement. “Commission staff also continues to work with voluntary standards organizations to examine gas stove emissions and address potential hazards.”

I’m all for as much information as you can give me on it. I’m also all for letting people make their choices about it. Like cigarettes alcohol junk food etc.

When companies hide shit on purpose, I have a problem. Also, the only big problem I see with this is potential renters. Long time renters forcing landlords to switch out and landlords saying gtfo then a court fight.

Gas stoves seem like they would be a gigantic liability for landlords, but I guess a lot of them use them.

Chalk this up to something that I have never thought about and have almost no opinion on. My stove is gas, came with the house. I suppose if they say it’s not the best for us then I’ll switch to electric when ot breaks because I truly do not give a shit about which one I have. I am not a gourmet chef and gas being better is I suppose true but I haven’t really noticed an uptick in food quality since I moved away from an electric stove last year.

But good lord was the conservative outrage about nothing machine out in force yesterday. They have learned absolutely nothing from 2022. Worrying exclusively about what their base is getting whipped up about on newsmax is loser shit

I get that the Greenies think Natural Gas is bad. But what the heck are people going to heat their homes with? You think an electric heat pump is going to work in places like Buffalo or Missoula? Gas is a fundamentally better choice for heating and cooking than electricity. The reliability of gas over electricity is hundreds of times better. People just aren't thinking right.

Biden is a no go on banning gas stoves. One guy on the CPSC board included a ban for future sales of gas stoves as one possibility—along with other options. However, that one guy was met with crickets from other board members. The science is real, so I could see changes to current regs regarding emissions and venting, but even that will be awhile—if ever. You connies freaking out are doing too much cocaine—it’s making you paranoid.

Coincidentally, and that’s all it is, I’ve just started shopping for an induction stove/convection oven. Been wanting one of those for a couple years now.
