Is the humor that rQa doesn't want to talk about the actual legislation...just the cute acronym? Shows the depth of his mental acuity.

Maybe they should get off their asses and pass some legislation to address the growing housing crisis.

Typically, that is a state by state and city by city issue.
When we are talking about their costs in DC, remember, this is a working home for them, and as noted, they also have a real home in their district, so while a $2.500/mth rent seems doable, it is for a "second home" on top of the cost of a primary residence.

Yeah, let’s address the housing crisis for elected officials who will 10x their net worth the first two years in office.

Though two-fifths of senators and representatives are millionaires, there are plenty with humbler backgrounds and more modest bank accounts. Almost a quarter of voting members have a negative net worth.

Debbie Stabenow net worth = $32,500 = not much more than when she started out. Looks like she had improving her constituents lives ahead of improving her own.

You have to admit that it is a very humorous play on the ridiculous practice of naming legislation for some perceived political goal rather than what the act might actually due.
Here we have the PELOSI Act: Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments
Evidently this was actually introduced (yes, by a Republican) to force legislators to place their investments in a blind trust while serving in an elected office.
Worthwhile legislation? Perhaps
Like the guy that did it? Most around here probably don't
Funny? Definitely!
This is a lie.

Don't see what point you are trying to make.
Net worth is one part of an honest assessment of financial health and addresses the points which have been made in this thread. It is a much better measure than just counting up all the assets and leaving out all the liabilities. If someone "owns" in a $500k house and owes $350k on it they have $150k of wealth, not $500k. Just basic accounting. The current value of a tax deferred retirement account is the cash value of what is in the account minus the tax liabilities (probably about 20% to 40% of the cash value) for cashing out the account today.
Net worth changes every day for everyone as economic choices are executed.
Roll Call is a highly rated source, so this is an accurate report by people who do this stuff in real life.

The point is that the dude who is the “poorest” member of congress based on his net worth can be flipped in a matter of seconds.
I’m willing to bet his negative millions of dollars in net worth is far better positioned financially than you and I will ever be. Then again I’m talking to the guy who’s spent two years telling us inflation isn’t really impacting us.

It is harder to flip "net worth" than that.
To be real world about it, hypothetically take a Congressperson who leaves Congress and signs a contract to write a book with an advance on sales of $15 million. Thier net worth changed not at all, because with the $15 million in cash they also took on a $15 million in liabilities which have to be paid back to the publishing house, this no change in net worth, which is why it is a better measure of wealth than just counting all their assets without subtracting the liabilities.
Regarding inflation and your personal attack on what I have been posting.
People generally don't understand what the headline inflation number means, IMO and I post to try to educate people about that. Those posts may be misunderstood by some, you seem to be one of the some, but I have never claimed that inflation doesn't exist, just that the year-to-year inflation number in September, say, does not mean prices increased that much from August to September. During the last year or so these posts have been in Herr RQA's Inflation thread.
There is a separate thread in which I have been trying to predict the headline number, which was blown all to hell by shocks to the energy prices and by corporations using their market power to take windfall profits, something I didn't anticipate. Those shocks are hopefully in the past, thus I have recalibrated and presented a new set of monthly predictions for the year-to-year numbers. So far so good, as to the predictions, and I am anxiously waiting for January's numbers to be published, which occurs around the second week in February.

Had to look that one up, it does point out that insider trading on information that is not public from Congressional work is not legal.

Looks like no.
Wiki wrote:The government watchdog group Common Cause filed complaints with the Justice Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Senate Ethics Committee, alleging possible violations of the STOCK Act and insider trading laws in the matter of stock sales by Loeffler and three other senators, Richard Burr, Jim Inhofe, and Dianne Feinstein. Loeffler and Sprecher had sold at least $18.7 million in Intercontinental Exchange stock before the 2020 stock market crash. After being criticized for the trades, Loeffler and Sprecher sold their individual stocks in an effort "to move beyond the distraction" caused by trades they made before and during the market decline caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. On May 26, 2020, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it had closed its inquiry into Loeffler. On June 16, 2020, the Senate Ethics Committee dismissed Common Cause's complaint, writing to Loeffler, "Based on all the information before it, the Committee did not find evidence that your actions violated federal law, Senate Rules or standards of conduct.
Sort of why the Pelosi Act would be a good idea?

Roll Call is a very fact-based source, so there is that. They based it on the required financial disclosure statements that Senators must file. Remember, this is "net worth" so she could have millions in assets and millions in liabilities and this would be the net value.
Re: PELOSI Act - new legislation.
Net worth isn’t a true indication of someone’s wealth. It’s just a number. Say like, inflation…..

Yes, the Roll Call numbers are fairly old, but some of the numbers being quoted, such as for Senator Warren in a different thread, seem pretty far out there regarding how much wealth that could be gained in a short period of time.
Although there are issues with the fairness during the implantation, the requirement for blind trusts for all elected and appointed US government officials, including the President & Veep, and for their close family members, such as spouses, children, siblings & parents makes sense in this wild west type economy we have created over the last 40 years.
