Michigan State football's signing class shows it's weaning itself off the transfer portal
Weeellll that will go over well on the internet...
"FIRE ALL COACHES!!! I DEMAND ACTION!!!" - internet/sports radio guy after the first turnover of next season.
article wrote:For that to happen, there will have to be patience— not just on Dellinger’s part, but MSU’s too. It seems that the Spartans are willing to concede as much, knowing from their own experience that a quick fix is far from guaranteed.

Re: tOfficial 2023 Spartan Football Thread
Not exactly a hot take, and not really correct either. There will always be transfers. That's the new normal. You can't replace a bunch of transferring upper classmen with freshmen recruits. You have to maintain class balance so you don't lose half your roster in a given year to graduation. That means picking up transfers & JUCOs when appropriate.
UGA has 10 transfers out. Alabama has 17. MSU 14. They key is...are the guys you bring in better than the guys leaving. In MSU's case, according to the rankings at least, not really. They're about the same this year. However, the rankings don't take into account position depth or lack thereof. Like a kicker for example.

Yeah, I don’t like this at all. There was an Oklahoma #5 who was leaning our way and I doubt that’s the case now. I hope I’m wrong.

If you are Brandon Jordan in year 2 of $225K/yr two year contract and an NFL team offers to double or triple your salary (and maybe more) to just coach with no recruiting He’s foolish not to go to the Seahawks.
However seeing the pass rush specialist leaving 6 weeks after the new DLine coach is named makes you wonder if that didn’t hasten Brandon Jordan’s move f he thought he was ready to be a DLine coach.
It’s ugly but this week Florida DC left to go to the NFL Cardinals . Earlier Georgia’s OC left for the Ravens. Jordan isn’t the trendsetter but he left on his own.

Seems like, without knowing the inside story, as to if he talked to Tucker before deciding, it is hard to know if he abused Tuxker's trust in him.

After one season in East Lansing, pass-rush specialist Brandon Jordan is leaving the program to work for the Seattle Seahawks.
“I wish him nothing but the best moving forward," Stone told On3. "I am shocked but I am happy for him and the love I have for MSU remains the same. Go Green!”
Still, Jordan was one of Stone's primary Michigan State recruiters and has worked with some of the NFL's best.

Probably not great. He was hyped up a crootin' guru. But he is being let go, so he was obviously not meeting Tuck's expectations.

We prefer wild speculation as opposed to facts. You should know that by now. I think we assigned Bob this story, but he’s currently looking for facts on the Springsteen tour. If he doesn’t find any he’ll just throw some crazy shit up, we’ll read it and move on.

Once it’s known where Khalif lands and what title he gets will probably explain if he was asked to leave or was approached by another school.
Like to be a fly on the wall in the football building for the last month. Several significant departures and so far just one hiring.
CMT’s been around long enough he knows the next two season is time to show progress. Nobody is feeling more pressure. I hope the coaching personnel moves result in his team winning 3 or 4 more games than the 5 in ‘22.

https://www.mlive.com/spartans/2023/04/michigan-state-dl-transfer-plans-to-take-over-games-while-embracing-new-underdog-mentality.html
EAST LANSING – Tunmise Adeleye has been at Michigan State for only three months.
The defensive lineman transfer from Texas A&M is still getting acclimated with his new surroundings but didn’t hesitate when asked about his impression of the program.
“Underdog mentality,” Adeleye said on Tuesday.
This is a new situation for Adeleye, a former four-star, top-40 overall recruit from Texas who had offers from the best programs in the nation. He was committed to Ohio State before signing with Texas A&M and spending two seasons with the Aggies. Now he’s a Spartan.
Adeleye joins a defensive line that should be solid up the middle with tackles Simeon Barrow, Derrick Harmon, Maverick Hansen and Alex VanSumeren all returning while the Spartans added a pair of transfers at the position in Florida State’s Jarrett Jackson and Liberty’s Dre Butler. At defensive end, Khris Bogle, Zion Young, Brandon Wright and Avery Dunn are the top returners and the Spartans signed a trio of four-star prospects at the position in Bai Jobe, Andrew Depaepe and Jalen Thompson. Adeleye has been able to size up how he fits at Michigan State, which began spring practice on March 14.

Additionally, schools compile these numbers differently, which impacts comparison. Still, the bottom-line number gives us a baseline comparison.
Hopefully the above is playing a factor, along with year-to-year variance (tOSU at 5?). We should be in the top 5 more times than not if we want to compete.

Is seems like recruiting success & money spent are only loosely related though, aka OSU for high recruiting and others on that list who are spending without success.
On a related note here is another article about MSU football this year.
