Netanyahu is either a lucky bastard or this was some how allowed to happen. Nothing unifies a country after the destruction of their judicial system quite like an imminent existential threat to your existence.

There are plenty of articles out there stating that the money is still sitting in Qatar untouched. But republican's can't scare anyone if they actually used the truth, and by the time its corrected their followers won't pay attention because they don't get their news from those sites.

It is not incongruous to both be appalled by what Hamas did and state unequivocally that what Israel is now doing will not bring peace. Only ending apartheid and occupation can do that. I don’t think being hard hearted to human suffering is a requirement of being a supporter of the Jewish people.

Do people (people being defined broadly as those you see on social media, celebrities, most of the dumber members of Congress) think that not blindly supporting Israeli right wing autocrats makes you anti semitic or something? I don’t think that all of those people just hate Palestinians. Or, maybe they think that every story needs to have a good guy and a bad guy and they have to think of things in those terms in order to understand it.

To me it’s obvious that it’s ok to acknowledge that what hamas did was bad while also recognizing that murdering children, civilians, and genocide in general is not an acceptable response

It’s a mess.

Arafat led PLO went from win at all costs to negotiation. Oslo Accords changed that. Gaza became self governed and when the PLO was winning elections its was a tenuous peace but Arafat had show negotiation with Israel was possible.

Arafat dies, Gaza voters started electing more radical Hamas than PLO candidates.

Hamas supported by Iran and they haven’t been pleased about Egypt and Jordan recognizing Israel for decades. More recently the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan have recognized Israel. Worse for Iran, Saudi Arabia has started to have talks with Israel.

Israel screwed the pooch from an intel standpoint. Somehow they missed training, munitions and equipment sales/transfers to Hezbollah that has Hamas support.

This is more than Israel hitting back. It’s hitting back from a massive unexpected sucker punch that’s shaken Netanyahu and his coalition government to its core. So they have no compunction to force approx 1M Gaza residents out and level portions of Gaza.

Before it’s over that condemnation of Hezbollah and Hamas will spill over to their backer, the Iranian government that’s already unstable.

Before it’s over I don’t think Iran will go unscathed

yeah, as Intensity said, conflicting reports on who fired the rocket. It's unfortunate that we don't know who to believe, who to even trust for accuracy in reporting.

I'm also not 100% comfortable with Joe Biden being over there, either.

I think this is a simple land dispute as much as it is religion. Israel got it, Palestinians wanted it back. Israel kicked the ever living crap out of them and locked them in a corner. Fester for decades... and here we are.

However, a narrative with greater power is the Jewish verses Islamic one regarding "God" giving each sect this land as "holy land"

When people are fighting for the basis of reality they will do and justify any action.

Right, but just like American politics, the "real" fight is much more simple then the "religious" fight.
Parties are using the "religious" aspects to rile up those who don't give a shit. If "god" didn't want you to have the land then maybe it's not worth dying over.

If the audio released is authentic it was launch from a cemetery very close to the hospital. It fits the profile of Hamas cloaking offensive weapons in traditional safe zones.
