15 would add another game on Wednesday (15 vs. 10)
16 would add 2 more games on Wednesday (16 vs. 9)

16 would mean 4 games on W, TH, F...2 games Sat and 1 game Sunday...using current double bye format.

Maybe end the regular season on Saturday, and then have 2 play in games (on campus) on Monday to get in the 16 team Big Ten Tournament.

18 @ 15, and 17 @ 16

ACC has 15 teams (and all get in the ACC Tournament).

So they might call it the AB1G Tournament (Almost)

Maybe they want to protect the 8/9 seeds from a possible loss to a 16+ seed that might eliminate them from the NCAA Tournament?

Wonder what the tiebreakers will be. Could get dicey at the bottom of the bracket.

Part of the magic of March is that any team can get hot, win 10 games, and be the national champions regardless of their record. Historically some conferences have not included all teams, or didn’t have a tournament, and I didn’t like that either. I’m not sure which others don’t do it now. It’s part of the charm of the whole thing. If you don’t include some of the teams that’s all lost.

The MAC did not expand to all teams until 2000 or maybe a little later. After Covid they dropped divisions for basketball and went back to a tournament without all teams. So this is definitely MAC level.
