Should be an adjusted (by income) flat rate, with adjustments for disabilities, etc. With no more loopholes, taxes could be calculated on a fairly simple spreadsheet.

China is a problem all to itself because for decades the Chinese government has been providing the capital, for free, to sectors of industry they want to dominate, globally.

It's how they globally took over steel, auto parts, electronics and now EVs.

The government doesn't provide the capital to agribusiness like in China.  Yes there are all sorts of programs which encourage farming, and we all need food so that makes some sense.

If you are running a car company and don't have to pay for the buildings, the land or the equipment to build the cars with you can sell those cars for much less.
