I think this is part of it. But I really think he has some deep seeded dislike for himself which manifests in passive aggressive behavior by pointing out other people's flaws in anonymous forums for self worth and self amusement. This is some odd way makes him feel better about himself and he can then go through his personal life feeling satisfied.
