Donating Plasma for cash
What's your opinion on it? For the welfare crowd? Good way to fill up the gas tank? If it saves lives, who cares?

It sucks. I did it for a while and it's really not worth your time

That used to be a part-time job for a good portion of MSU students back in the day.

I'm not going to lie, I donate. It's an extra like $70 a week. Goes a long way for my extracurricular activities.

CSL Plasma in Lansing. On Cedar. It's $50 for the first time 4/5 times you go. After that, it's $20 on the first donation of the week and on the second donation of the week you get $46. I think. It depends on your weight I know too, but that's what I get.

Yikes. How long are you in there for? I used to go to this place in ypsi. It was 15 for your first donate and 20 for the second. Literally half of what you get paid

Depending on the day of the week and time, it varies. Earlier in the week is best, and either earlier before 1pm or noon or later at night at like 6 is best. They are open for majority the day I believe.
I'd say on average, 2 hours. (The more water you drink before, the quicker) I'm going to start bringing class shit to read so I'm getting paid while doing homework. Not a bad gig.

A friend of mine financed all of his dope/drinking needs at MSU with plasma sales. Of course back then ozs were $35 and drinks were $1.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:What's your opinion on it? For the welfare crowd? Good way to fill up the gas tank? If it saves lives, who cares?
He claimed that it all worked out well since having his blood sucked out allowed him to get drunk/high on less.
I was too much of a sissy re:needles to go that route so I sold myself to needy coeds instead.

Yup, i had plenty of friends who would donate and head straight to Happy Hour at Rick's. That plasma money goes pretty far when you're downing $1.25 pitchers and you're a little light in the arteries.
I, too, am a sissy around needles so I couldn't join their little reindeer games.

I did it when I was in grad school. You are typically there for 2 hours or so. The first time is the longest because they have to do a physical and a blood test. I think it was 4 hours the first time.
I was making about $70/week as well. Same company in Lansing that was in Iowa. I would bring my school books to read/study as it was getting done so the typical time was actually productive. Not exactly a comfortable thing, and depending on whom you had it hurt a decent bit or not at all. I actually have a scar on my arm from doing it so much. They could only use one arm since my other one had too small of a vein. Found out the hard way and I looked like a doped up heroin addict with the bruising following halfway through my arm.

I'd say if you spend long enough time donating on Cedar Street, there is a good chance that, sooner or later, you'll get a return on your investment in the ER.

I don't know of many places where those plasma centers are in a good area.

I've already had to reject a nice lady's request for a ride to K-Mart....
