Paid West Virginia $4 million to buy out RichRod's contract. Paid RichRod $2.5 million to buy him out.
Paid SDSU $1 million to buy out Hoke's contract. Will pay $2 million to buy out Hoke.
That's a savings of $3.5 million!!! Brandon is a genius!!!

Heartbreak!!

It’s easy to understand why Michigan would be interested in either Harbaugh. After watching Hoke leave injured quarterback Shane Morris in the game and then send him back in for a snap after finally pulling him in the second half of the team’s third lifeless loss in as many tries against competition from the top tier of the current NCAA alignment, it would be easy to understand why they’d be interested in Rich Kotite. According to a report from Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, however, the interest isn’t reciprocated.
Wilson reports that John Harbaugh is happy in his current job, which sees him at 3-1 this season and 65-35 overall with a Super Bowl title in addition to a strong regular season record. He’s also signed through the 2017 season and doesn’t have his brother’s history with the program — John Harbaugh went to high school in Ann Arbor while his father was on the U of M staff, but went to Miami of Ohio — or success as a college coach to serve as temptations.

Will Michigan let him finish out the season? Seems like the nature of that institution to wait to the end of the season.
But then again, do you give Hoke the hook early? This story is only going to get bigger and the way things are looking I doubt UofM beats Rutgers.

I don't think any successful NFL Coach would seriously look at any college job.
If for any reason either Harbaugh brother didn't want to coach where they are at now, they would get hired (and get huge salary increases) from some other NFL team.

It will cost them $1 million if they fire him in 2014. $3 million buy out this year...$2 million if they wait until January 1. I think they wait.

What about damage control? What happens when attendance slumps and the seats get emptier and emptier?

I'm not sure firing Hoke midseason will put more butts in the seats, unless they bring in some huge home run hire midseason (like Gruden...and I don't think that's a realistic scenario).

Even if he was interested, he wouldn't say he was interested at this point.
For the record, I don't think he's interested. Why go from NFL to college? Especially when he could make a crapload if he went somewhere else (like NY or Dallas).

From everything I've read there's no way either of the Harbaughs would work for Dave Brandon. Michigan is going to be terrible for a long time.

Darren Rovell had a tweet earlier today that said UM also paid Hoke a $2.5MM bonus in January, and put more money into a deferred compensation package.

A statement we can all agree with.
Baltimore Ravens @Ravens 27m
John Harbaugh on Michigan rumors: "I'm interested in Brady Hoke being the head coach at Michigan for a long time to come."

He's the one that was rooting for MSU last year or the year before in the NCAA Tourney, right?LooseGoose wrote:A statement we can all agree with.

I don't know. But why would he leave $7M and the NFL for that tire fire?
