I don't understand what exactly this council is going to find that the police with the power of warrants and such didn't. Not saying that he did or didn't do it, but do they have any evidence against him other than her word?

If it wasn't the Heisman winning QB, then they can ignore the absence of evidence and make a political point and rule in favor of the presumed victim with a censure and loss of dining hall privileges

They might not have enough whether he did it or not. Last I heard he agreed to the hearing and they appointed a retired judge. But that was weeks ago. These things are supposed to be wrapped up in 60 days and it is going on 3 months.
Guess he is not worried about it but it seems like kind of a big deal.

Don't know. There were definitely reports that it was a half-assed investigation. Even half-assed though, is a school council investigation going to be able to dig any deeper?

Not half-assed. Completely botched to the point that any reasonable outside observer has to see it as deliberate.

Yeah it smells really bad and the resulting "lack of evidence" could get him cleared in the school hearing as well, although the burden of proof or whatever the legal term is lower in the school case.

Although it appears they are going to cooperate for now, unless they are 100% confident in their defense I just can't see Winston ever facing this hearing. I think they are just playing their cards which for now means delay, delay hoping to push it until after the season is over.
Don't know how long the school can play that game with the Feds on their ass about it. But I don't know, what would be worse from their standpoint - a Title IX violation or dealing with this hearing where they might have to expel the star qb? "Hey we had a hearing set up for January 20, but unfortunately Jameis is no longer in school so there is nothing we can do about it".

I have a bad feeling it might end up happening during the break between the regular season and the playoff and we could have FSU in the playoffs without Winston.

Hearing is scheduled for week of November 17.

Winston's attorney will try to delay it and then there could still be extra time for appeals so we'll see.

The hearing is actually underway.

"FSU’s student code of conduct states that a decision letter will be sent to the student or students within 10 class days from the conclusion of the hearing; it does allow, though, for more time if additional consideration of evidence and deliberation is required. Each party would also have the right to appeal any decision.

As far as the timeframe of 10 class days, FSU’s fall semester ends Dec. 12, while the spring semester classes don’t begin until Jan. 7. As reported earlier, that timeframe is key when it comes to the football component of the hearing equation.

If the hearing concludes on Dec. 5 or later, any decision might not be rendered until after the national championship game. A period of 10 class days from that date would mean a decision would not be due until Jan. 13, one day after the championship game.

According to Schlabach, the hearing is expected to last one or two days. How long after that for a decision to be rendered is unknown. But, if you do the calendar math — an appeal can take as long as 60-90 days, and any punishment rendered wouldn’t be imposed during the appeals process — you can see where this is potentially, or even likely, headed."

This will drag on until after FSU has played its last game this season. Winston will drop-out immediately after the team returns from that game. There will be no need for a final ruling and neither Winston nor FSU will have to admit to any wrong doing.

I hope his lawyer gets AIDS and dies tonight. That guy is the biggest piece of shit walking this earth.

The school cleared Winston. I haven't had time to read the article so I haven't formed an opinion, but I didn't want anyone to think we aren't paying attention to sports here.

I am currently a huge Oregon fan, one more game and that douche can become the NFL's problem.

I mean, did anybody think there was going to be another outcome? How good of an investigative team do you think a University has? Granted the police did a shoddy investigation but did anyone think that the University, without any power of subpoena or ability to get warrants, was going to find something. Basically they had a he said/she said case to hear and her story was sketchy at best.
