That's why the franchises like New England Pittsburgh Green Bay (somewhat) who for the past 15-20 years or more have been good to very good are really to be admired.  It's hard to keep that playoff window open.  Drafts are set up to help the sucky teams and so are the future schedules.   Then Contracts seem to come up right when your team is knocking on the super bowl door or you've won it, so you lose some key free agents.  It's better, in my opinion than the Major leagues.  I don't follow the NBA so I don't know.  But what's crazy is that if you're a team who has not won big at least once in the three decades or so, your organization is fucked up somewhere.   I'm not talking winning the super bowl, but getting there or  near there.

See, I don't really like parity that much. Or at least, I'd rather find a good balance between parity and not parity. Take the Nhl playoffs.... For me it's fun to watch while not really caring, but you're basically just watching a game of dice down on the corner, right? Anyone can win. That's not fun for me to become an invested fan. You don't get to be on top as long or have that team that you desperately want to see taken down. And it really doesn't matter what moves your team makes because the reality is that the 8 seed very we could beat you regardless.

The Nfl to me actually has a pretty decent balance though, partially because of teams like GB and NE. You still get to see teams like Seattle jump up out of nowhere and typically you won't see a bad team get super good overnight for no reason (it happens, but not often. Take the Panthers and Lions, many years of building to get to even somewhat respectability)
