So it was just a very slight change...but maybe it's a bigger deal when it affects a white person. I don't want to guess what Bullwrinkle thinks about it - I'm sure he'll tell us.
You're learning there Lad. Nope it's the same deal whether she was black, white, asian, hispanic, or racist white hispanic.

So accept reality and ponder what might be a better solution to eliminating racism. Perhaps rigorous enforcement of the extensive anti-discrimination laws already on the books? We have an African-American POTUS and Attorney General, so they must be rigorously enforcing them. Why don't you let us know how they're doing with that?
I would not say it has been rejected by the Court. For example, the Gratz decision did not invalidate race as a factor in admissions, but said such policies must be narrowly tailored (where the UM policy was not). If I recall, the court actually said that such policies, because they increase diversity, have a compelling public purpose. Even in their most recent decision regarding Michigan, affirmative action itself was not struck down. It seems the Court did not want to disturb the (constitutional) preferences of Michigan voters. However, I would tend to agree that a majority of the Court leans in the direction of seeing affirmative action as outdated and/or creating more harm that good.

Since her college opportunity changed "very slightly," why does it matter?

What law would you "rigorously enforce" to make sure that people's resumes aren't ignored because their names don't look white?

Not a single minority or woman student with grades and test scores good enough to be considered for admission to U-M or MSU, would have any difficulty being accepted at some other college if they didn't get accepted here. So nope - AA doesn't increase minority representation at colleges, it only changes very slightly which colleges they are accepted at. Total fail on your part. New board - same Pervis stupidity.
You left out the part where schools with affirmative action have higher minority dropout rates, and how states that ban AA see increases in minority graduation rates.

The NBA has wanted to get rid of Sterling for years. He finally started spending for players when they leaned on him.
I think the NBA will have owners lined up to buy the Clippers.

Are you implying an American citizen should be forced to relinquish his private property due to a conversation he had with his mistress?

There's a whole bunch of them. Read and learn something for once, before you ignorantly open your pie hole. I'm not allowed to post links yet, so go to eeoc.gov and you can become knowledgeable...for once.

Not addressed to me, but yes indeed. Professional sports leagues are basically private rich guy clubs. If the other rich guys decide that they don't want Sterling in their club, they can and should use all available avenues to exert pressure on this piece of shit to sell his club.

It appears another poster isn't aware of how country clubs and businesses requiring approval of franchisees work. Years ago a Lansing area Chevy dealer was forced to give up his dealership when he drove his powerboat while drunk and a passenger died. An acquaintance owns a group of McDonald's franchises. The company approached him to buy two more when the previous franchisee plead guilty to lesser charge misdemeanors after initially facing felony charges.

Just my honest opinion, if you listen to the audio by itself it sounds more like a jealous weirdo boyfriend who is trying to figure out some way to keep his "girlfriend" from being a ho.
But then in combination with the stories about minority tenants and my guess about it is most certainly off...

fail to point out that he was up for an award from the NAACP. [lol]

What does this have to do with either person?
If the league approves making his entire roster and staff free agents. Give him 60-90 days to sell or the free agent hammer drops. If Sterling knows the value of his franchise will lose value he probably sell. Even his estranged wife and family have distanced themselves. The NBA is at least a $5 Billion dollar a year entity. Sterling has made his franchise a pariah. If he stays it will affect the value of his franchise and cost the league.
Magic wanted to own the Lakers but the Buss family isn't going anywhere and he would have never been a majority owner so he sold to be the face of the Dodger ownership. Now it appears the Guggenheim management group that owns the Dodgers is very interested.
On a side note, Gores should make a run at Doc Rivers for GM or coach.

What rule did he break? Making sure your private conversations aren't recorded? Funny how not leasing your apartments to minorities wouldn't fall under their rules but this would

The fallacy is claiming that free-market decisions are totalitarianism, as Krauthammer did. He apparently doesn't have much confidence in his readers' abilities to think for themselves.

So I see the pictures of this guy sitting next to a beautiful Asian girl and I figured that was his girlfriend. Last evening I started hearing about his wife - a blond white chick. I am usually a part of the 10% but do I have that right? This married guy is mad at his girlfriend because of who she is bringing to the game!?! You would think that would be the least of his worries...

Close. She's half African American and half Mexican. And his wife divorced him and is suing his girlfriend/ mistress because Sterling gave her close to 2 million in gifts while they were still married and is trying to get half of that under Cali's common property marriage laws.

And closer Mr. Sterling's wife is "estranged"... He isn't divorced. Mr. Sterling came to CA as a young child, went to UCLA and Southwestern College of Law (also in LA) and married his wife before he went to law school. With CA being a community property state he and his accountants have probably figured its cheaper to keep her.

Since its a community propert state she could divorce him and get half regardless, so I doubt he's the one holding the cards in the relationship. But that does explain why she's suing the mistress and not him. I guess that would mean he'd have to sell the clippers to divvy up that assets net worth if she divorced him and she probably doesn't want that, that's the only thing that makes sense

Re: Clippers owner, known democrat contributor, makes racist comment
It seems to me this is less about race than it is about the embarrassment of an aging big shot who was probably getting made fun of by his friends. In the recorded call he insinuated that his girlfriend/mistress was obviously hanging and sleeping with young studly black men and he was getting shit about it by his peers. He was humiliated by it. She obviously liked that type of dude and he was pleading with her not to flaunt it and publicly cuckold him. He's freaking 80 years old. Think Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino. I'm sure he has racist opinions from his era, but he was going to be awarded his 2nd NAACP award and hired a black coach among other things, so he doesn't strike me as a supremest. He is getting publicly lynched now for asking his gold digger ho mistress to stop humiliating him with the only type of guy she apparently dug. This article by these Dartmouth guys does a good job of putting it in perspective.
Edit: Well I was going to link to the Powerline Blog article about it, but apparently I can't link until I have been a member for 7 days. Here is the address for a good take on this latest tempest in a teapot:

He also donates generously to the United Negro College Fund and other similar organizations. Could it be a front to hide his racist views? Possibly. What doesn't make sense are the reports now that he knew she was recording him as she was his "archivist", but if she wasn't having a relationship as she claims why does she refer to him as "baby"? She's a nasty ho, that's the bottom line. They both deserve to be ridiculed

Still scratching my head on that one?
The Nancy Kerrigan answer (Why!? Why!? on this one is greed. The "girlfriend" hasn't had as many birthdays as Stierling and his wife have had anniversaries. She wanted more, Sterling has a long history giving less if anything at all and Mrs. Sterling has shown she was willing to stand by while their shared assets have continued to grow.
With David Stern essentially awarding Chris Paul to the Clippers, Blake Griffin re-signing and the recent Lakers downward trajectory the Clipper franchise is worth more than anytime in its history.
ps
Seems Mr. Drudge got the current Democrat part wrong. LA Times columnist Michael Hiltzik checked Orange County records and discovered Sterling has been registered as a Republican since 1998. So 16 years ago he may have been registered Democrat.

Hires disproportionately blacks.
Admires Magic Johnson
Dates black chick.
Gives to United Negro College Fund
Honored by NAACP
Sounds racist to me.
I only heard part of the tapes, but what I heard was a guy being humiliated by his ho publicly. She did all the "because he is black" talk in what I heard, but there are a lot of tapes.
Problem renting to blacks? Joe Biden says no problem as long as they are clean and articulate.

Sterling is an old guy. A rich old guy who grew up where everyone wasn't carrying video/audio recording devices.
His companion recorded it and made it available to someone who decided to make it the recording available to media.
There was a time, 1981- 2012 when Sterling owned a team no one else wanted. That's no longer the case. The team is in LA, not SanDiego or Buffalo. If a majority of owners don't want him, Stirling will be gone.
