I like that song. And I typically hate most music songs.

So you like a lot of non-music songs, do you?

something that is lost in the story of the plane crash and the death of Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens is that Waylon Jennings was in the band, too - gave up his seat on the plane and took a bus instead.

as the story goes, Buddy Holly was giving Waylon a hard time for giving up his seat on the plane and taking the bus. Jennings jokingly told Holly that he hoped his plane crashed. Haunted Waylon for years.

so, losing Holly, the Bopper and Valens certainly changed the course of music history - imagine if Waylon had been on the plane, as well - got to wonder the impact it would've had relative to the folks we know these days as contemporaries of Waylon - Willie, Johnny, Kris.. The Highwaymen wouldn't have existed. There wouldn't be a Shooter.. not to mention current artists like Sturgill Simpson who are heavily influenced by Waylon.

Fwiw I doubt the Beatles would have been such a thing if holly was around. Dude was so far ahead of his time....
