What you paying for Country Club?
Looking to join a higher end CC in the middle of the random Midwest. It's a sponsorship invite only but it's not in Chicago, Dallas, NYC, L.A. Metro prices. Got an invite from some friends to join and would do the Social membership package for the family, but how much is it going to set me back before I go in for the tour and start pledging my body to the elder members for fornication as part if the initiation. What's the initiation fee and monthly dues at your CC?

Interested about the male elders fornicating with my family though...would like serious info on that. Do they wear masks?

I am a member of two. The Golden Bear in Windermere, Fl and Vasari Country Club. I think it's well worth it. There are all kinds of memberships. I would start out with the social just to see if you like it. Then upgrade if you think you want to continue. I have a full membership at Vasari and a social at Golden Bear. If I like Golden Bear then I will upgrade. So far, it's pretty nice. So I will probably upgrade in a year or two.

I've thought about it. My FIL and BIL are at one. But I just don't like it there. I couldn't picture myself wanting to play golf with any of the guys I've met there - not like I have time to golf right now anyway. I like my Monday evening 9 hole beer league. I guess we could go social and then my wife and kids could go to the pool with her sister and nieces. We may explore that route.

There's definitely a swinging element to country clubs - but it's generally wrinkly old men and nasty leather-faced MILFs looking for a sexual renaissance. Just find yourself a local brewpub - good conversation, good beer, fewer racists.

That's too bad - with your screen name you would likely make for a good country club candidate.
The main thing that has deterred me is playing the same course 9 out of 10 rounds. I enjoy playing different courses, but if I'm paying monthly CC dues I'm likely going to feel an obligation to tee it up with the saggy balls old bigots every weekend who shave strokes but not their ear hair.

We eat there pretty regularly, go to social event, take kids to the day care so we can eat in peace, pool, golf, kids pool, they do events like cooking classes, kids movie nights, fitness center... My wife likes the day spa and things like Mother's Day dinner. Spring formal, etc. the men's lounge did NCAA tournament specials which were fun. Typically it's a choose your own adventure, you can make friends and have a social thing, or just use the services and dining.

And here we go.
Re: What you paying for Country Club?
Belong to Lochmoor CC in Grosse Pointe. Social now, was golf but I work to much to golf enough for it to make sense. Social is $230 / month. Currently no initiation fee for social, some minor fee for golf depending on age. Love the club. We have several good friends from the club, I have several new clients from the club. The pool and swim program is great and the parties are great. Not cheap once you add it misc fees and the cost to actual use it and eat there. But worth it.

You can figure close to $10k a year minimum after you add up dues, cart fees, food/bev minimums, range fees, lockers, etc. You want to dabble in junior programs like swimming, golf, tennis? Then keep adding $$

The good news is that a lot of CC's are hurting for members right now and have some really good deals. Many are specifically trying to draw in younger members because their median membership age is astronomical.

Pops, you really need to find a way to give that place up. The more you read it the angrier you get and next thing you know you're hurling ethnic slurs at people because they "deserve it."
Have your grandkids show you how to delete the bookmark from your Explorer so you aren't tempted to go see what people are saying about you.

Depending on the club, this is pretty low for a golf membership. Most places will be between $8k to $10k just for the dues, fees, etc. Food, bev, programs would be additional. Social about half of that first number.
Join CCD or some others and it will be twice that amount.

Doral just upped their corporate membership from 100k to 125k. I'm not sure what a personal membership is there, but I now know a guy who has one. Maybe this summer I can play a round for a reasonable price as his guest.
