I would think it should always be open. WBH should be able to calculate a buy in figure. I'd guess it's somewhere around $90 currently since we're in the black quite a ways. Once in, you have an equal share of winnings/losses.

We won one bet in spring training and lost a bet on the Tigers w/Price on the mound in anaheim.
Baseball seems like it's really hard to bet on, you have any pointers?

Re: Attention Degenerate Gamblers
The problem with betting baseball is the fact that it's baseball. However with so many games and matchups the individual can gain some edge. Just ask Pete Rose. He lost $ betting football and ponies but cleaned up with baseball.
Hockey is similar to baseball.
Obviously football is the easiest sport in understanding how to bet. Well at least the spread anyway - you start putting teasers, o/u's and exotics out there and ppl glaze over.
Basketball is brutal to bet.

Re: Attention Degenerate Gamblers
Thanks fellas, Having bet on sports now for about 5 years I find my most successful times of the year during baseball. I don't have a "system", but I'll go through multiple checkpoints. Tonight for example with the Mets. Matt Harvey is on the mound, the "ace" of the New York Mets. Harvey loves pitching at home and holds a 2.09 lifetime ERA at home. Harvey has faced the Giants twice in his career both away from home but did earn Quality starts in each, there is limited history in Batter vs Pitcher stats though. Tim Hudson takes the mound for SF, now he's had a hard time with a lot of the bats on the Mets team. The mets lineup has a career .315 BAA, going 35/111. This is a very good sign since Mets batters know Hudson well and have performed against him well historically. The Mets are coming in now as -154 favs, I really like favorites with low run totals. Once we're at 8 runs or more total wise, and we're looking at a favorite of -150 or lower it says to me theres a larger chance for an upset. Those are just some basic things I'll look at, next I can go into an umpire analysis, weather, recent performences, ball park, etc. Its not an exact science but I find the largest advantage in baseball, after all that I'll lay 154 to win 100 for the Mets and I could lose 3 out of ten times and come out ahead. Baseball is a grind but like I said theres money to be made, spot betting in baseball doesn't work though.

Re: Attention Degenerate Gamblers
Some what off-topic, but not a big football bettor, usually stick to hockey (moneyline) and golf (futures) so I need some help:
Would like to take BYU tomorrow 5Dimes line is +7 at-120 or +6 1/2 at +100.
My instinct says take 6 1/2 at +100, but I know that 1/2 point from 6 1/2 to 7 is a huge deal.
What is the better price?

^ Thank you. At one point I was going to ask you about joining the "Consortium" but realized the group hadn't re-upped or settled to start a new year.
Next time you do, or if it is not an accounting nightmare let me know, I would love to kick in for the cause.

I don't think anyone really cares if the shares are a bit uneven. We're currently -208. So buyin would be 888/however many we have (20? 21 maybe?)Blaine Fabin wrote:^ Thank you. That pending shit could kill us - we are seriously exposed on the Michigan game.
I'm not sure on the buy-in. I don't really care. $40something?
BTW Virginia is not very good at football

Re: Attention Degenerate Gamblers
I think anyone who joined after we made the bets should technically still be in on the bets, win or lose. So you have to be ok realizing that we currently have almost as much in outstanding bets as our buffer with our book ($1k)
The way it works is you paypal me the entry, and I hold it in case we go down over $1k and have to pay up. That way I am not fronting the payout for a bunch of relative strangers and chasing them down to pay me. If we profit, I pay you out your share, and keep the original share for another go around that would work in the exact same manner. Or you can opt out at that point and I would send you back your original fundage, along with your share of the winnings.
Let me figure out the buy in and you can decide. Like Doc said it's likely to be somewhere in the $40 range.

Okay a newbie question here, but I assume you mean that these guys would be completing the 2nd leg of the transaction,
and there is not some magical arbitrage opportunity somewhere that (past) middle aged dudes mowing the lawn wearing bad socks and a "World's Greatest Dad T-shirt" aren't aware of?

-208. Is that a real balance? Does it include WBH cashing me out at my request after Ty jumped in with a bunch of stupid plays?
How many folks in this now? What it cost to buy back in?
