All encompassing 2016 Fantasy Football thread
I know everyone hates everyone else talking about FF, but maybe since there's usually money involved we can have a thread for asking questions/advice?
Fuck it, who cares what you guys think, there might be 2 or 3 people here who want to participate.
Who are you all hot on? Cold on?
I think I'm hot on Joseph Randle, Randall Cobb and probably Wheaton on the Steelers.
I have put about 10 minutes of research into this and I have a big draft tomorrow.

We do a keeper league, 2 players at 2 different positions. I kept Luck and Marshawn Lynch. Not bad. Our draft isn't until next weekend.

Re: All encompassing 2016 Fantasy Football thread
I'll go ahead and throw a question out, even though I think I know what I'm gonna do.
Each team keeps 1 player. 1st year you keep them, it costs $35. each year it goes up by $5. Total auction budget of $200.
PPR league. TDs worth 10 points.
My options.
Julio Jones - $35
DeMarco Murray - $35
LeSean McCoy - $35
Or keep my $35 and draft with a full $200.
Anyone have an opinion?

I've never done an auction league so I don't really know how to do the analysis of conserving the money but you can't go wrong with any of those guys. Murray will probably end up with the most TDs of the three but in a PPR league Julio Jones will be money. I think I'd keep Murray though.

Re: All encompassing 2016 Fantasy Football thread
I think Wayne would be a very solid $1 pickup risk. Basically my strategy is that we load up on a QB, 2 RBs and 1-2 WR/TEs and fill out the rest of the roster with $1 players. Reggie Wayne might be one of those.
I agree y2k, I think any of my 3 guys will go for over $35 on the open market.
I would like to hear Vlad or Doc's opinion on Wheaton and Bryant. Worth more than $1? I know we're not getting Brown. Have to believe he will be kept by another team.

Re: All encompassing 2016 Fantasy Football thread
Had our draft last Sunday - a week earlier than usual. 10 man std scoring league.
I had 9 pick in a snake draft. We're heavy RBs and of the first 8 picks 7 were RBs (Rodgers was the other).
So took Antonio Brown at 9 and wait for it Jordy Nelson at 12. One hour later Jordy Nelson blew out his knee.

Gay cowboys who eat pudding who like money. Our champ this year should clear $3k. I've only been in the league for about 10 years but it has been going for 25+ years. They used to pull stats out of USA Today. Still probably 4-5 original members and now 2 of the original members have kids in their 20's who are also in the league. Pretty cool. Though I think dad may subsidize the entry.
Auction drafts are a blast, if you play FF you really should try to do an auction draft one year. Best way to draft by far. Once you go auction, you will come to despise the lame snake drafts.
Anyway, I hate my team. I chased Julio into the mid 50s but he wound up going for $59. My top WR is Cobb who I had to chase all the way up to $50. I also landed Hopkins for like $30. I got caught trying to bid up Abdullah. Lions always go for way higher than they should in our league. A known Lions fan got in on the action and I set out to bone him because "I could tell" in my drunken state that he really wanted him. Then he stopped bidding. Furk.

I'm trying to do a keeper league draft, year 2, but the commish has no clue how to remove the already-drafted/kept players from last year. Awesome.

Re: All encompassing 2016 Fantasy Football thread
So I'll basically be picking between Randall Cobb, Justin Forsett, Melvin Gordon and Lamar Miller for my first pick. I know the general consensus is to always go with a RB but I already have Marshawn Lynch and this is a PPR league so I'm leaning toward Cobb. Yes, WRs are easier to find in the middle rounds but it's hard for me to pick a No. 2 RB over a top 5 WR.

It's a 12 team keeper league. We get to keep 2 players as long as they're at different positions. I kept Luck and Lynch. Basically we're starting in the 3rd round and I'm drafting 3rd. Should I take Cobb or gamble on a guy like Gordon?

Re: All encompassing 2016 Fantasy Football thread
I'd go Cobb all day personally. None of those RB options inspire much confidence, and I rode a waiver wire pickup of Forsett last year after AD went out to a 2.5k payday. I don't expect him to repeat his success.
EDIT. With a Top 3 RB, a Top 2 QB and an (arguably) Top 5 WR, you are exceptionally well rounded in a 12 team PPR keeper league.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. The two guys in front of me will likely pick Eddie Lacy and Demarco Murray, so I guess if one of them takes Cobb I'd end up with one of those two but I don't anticipate that happening. Can't be mad about Cobb though.
btw $2.5k payout last year? Damn!

Re: All encompassing 2016 Fantasy Football thread
We upped to $400 per this year, 12 teams, $5 transactions. Makes for a nice payout. I have a longtime partner, one of the original members. He is one of my best buddies but he is an odd dude, and now a deadbeat at 44ish, living with his parents. He doesn't know a thing about the NFL anymore, nor has he logged into our website in the past 4-5 years. I cover his half of the entry fee at the draft, and I basically only get my money back if we win more than $400 at the end of the year. Great deal for me.

Re: All encompassing 2016 Fantasy Football thread
The only way I can stomach NFL fantasy is auction or salary league. Agree with Whiteboy... Once you are in that type of league you could never go back. I also prefer limited waiver move leagues or high charge moves. Like 10$ a transaction. FF should be draft centric.
