Do people actually love the U.S.?

I'm watching the beginning of sniper. Guy says he does what he does because of his love for the U.S. I really don't care about this country, I couldn't ever feel strong enough to defend it from outside forces. I just love here because it's convenient right now. Am I doing something wrong?

It's a pretty good country. Comparatively. It can be greatly, greatly improved however.

I do hate the blind patriotism though. Just the fact that you questioned what you did in this thread makes you an asshole with 90% of the country. At least once or twice during sporting events (kinda random, right?) we have to have our "everyone stare at the flag, listen to a song, and think about how great we are" moment. These are kind of weird things to me.
