If I recall, I think the RCMB has experience leaving letters on seats for people at the Breslin.

lose to a team that's 1-4 in the Big Ten.. whine about the officiating.InTenSity wrote:Everyone is complaining about the officials, but nice narrative.Robert J Sakimano wrote:pretty funny and reiterates that whining about officiating is the Spartan way.....
meh.. y'all whine about what you wanna whine about. I just choose not to join the ranks of teams/fans who choose to blame the officiating after a loss.

Re: MSU Radio crew leaves a note in Nebraska
I wasn't talking about just MSU. The ACC suspended officials, I think there was even a game this year in which a team got a first down, on 5th and a yard. Listening to the Dolphins game while driving on Sunday and they were complaining about the officials in the NFL, that they don't remember all the penalties being called, then they laughed and said its still better than what college has.Robert J Sakimano wrote:lose to a team that's 1-4 in the Big Ten.. whine about the officiating.InTenSity wrote:

Officiating is bad, and there doesn't seem to be anyway to change it. I'm just saying there seems to be some legitimacy to complaining about the refs. You're correct though, there is no reason that MSU should have let a 1-4 team beat them.

I hear ya.. sucks all the way around and it's sort of theoretical until it impacts a game we're interested in.InTenSity wrote:I wasn't talking about just MSU. Re: MSU Radio crew leaves a note in Nebraska
It has not been my stance to complain about "the call" in that game by any means. Yes, it was a blown call but as far as I'm concerned the loss just prolonged the inevitable. We aren't good enough to get where we wanted to go, barring some additional major breaks along the way.Â
However, I read this article this morning from unaffiliated Jamie Samuelsen (Northwestern grad), and it's totally fair. He nails it.Â

agree - we flirted with disaster all year long and eventually disaster took us up on our flirtation. Even the "just win" mantra suggests a certain degree of discomfort relative to narrow escapes in games that should have been comfortable victories.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:It has not been my stance to complain about "the call" in that game by any means. So don't blame officials for a loss, accept responsibility for your actions that led to the loss?
Now let's talk about blaming guns for..........

Re: MSU Radio crew leaves a note in Nebraska
Bob, why can't you look at it on a call to call basis?
Like most arguments here, everyone has to be extremely on one side or the other. I know for a fact that it was a bad call. The replay showed it. Pretty simple.
Now does this make me some conspiracy theorist about Delaney and ESPN?

Wow, I actually gained some respect for Jamie Samuelsen. That article was 100% spot on.
My .02 either improve the review system and reffing to a more common sense approach where they can correct mistakes that they see in review or just do away with it.
Also, I've never for a second bought the popular fallacy that refs don't decide games. Refs absolutely can affect the outcome of a game.

it was probably the wrong call.Rocinante wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:

But I don't see the need in isolating single calls into what decides the outcome of a game. I suspect there is a missed call of some sort on every single play. Truth is, we shouldn't have been in the position to allow a single call to decide the game.
and, believe me when I say, that if scUM, O$U or any other team ranked higher than us in the CFP poll lost a game in a similar fashion that we wouldn't be crying about how poor the officiating is in college football. We'd be pointing at them, laughing.. and saying that the scoreboard is what matters.

I think I've said in the past that I don't like Duke.
At any rate, Duke got hosed against Miami. The refs cost Duke that game.

There was another play the refs missed. A Nebraska WR moved. I think it ended up being a big play.
I will have to rewatch the entire game to confirm blatant cheating and/or incompetency.

That's his narrative. All MSU fans are sheep. He chooses to ignore that fans are called fans for a reason, that all fans are not the same and that all fanbases generally share the same characteristics, he just has more access to one. Re: MSU Radio crew leaves a note in Nebraska
The ACC came out at the end of the week and gave an apology to MIami for that game as well. Those refs were absolutely horrible. I think there were 28 penalties called on Miami during that game. I didn't see anything but the last play, but apparently the 2 PI calls that led to Duke scoring to be in the lead were horrible calls too.steveschneider wrote:

I don't think that MSU fans are "sheep" any more than any other fanbase is. I'm simply pointing out my belief that our sudden concern with the quality of officiating in college football is rooted in the fact that many MSU fans believe it cost us the game.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:That's his narrative. I don't think we're worried about the officiating in college football. I think we're worried about the officiating on that one play in that one game.
and, thankfully, I'm afforded my opinion at tSwill - as are you. This isn't tRCMB.. you're a great American and a damn fine Spartan.
