It's now a tradition. All parents must impose traditions that their kids hate. We watched it last night. My sons (23 & 21) both hate the movie. Of course, the kids could leave at any time since we don't force it on them, but they don't, they watch the movie and snicker with derision in an attempt to make us hate the movie as much as they do. We all enjoy it in our own way.

No, it really is a boring movie. As WBH says, Christmas Vacation is way better. Die Hard is a good Christmas flick too.

Die Hard is a Christmas movie. Not only does in take place on Christmas Eve, but Christmas is essential to the plot.

Christmas movies appeal seem generational.

It's a Wonderful Life's fans indentified with the Depression and WW2

A Christmas Story is about post war pre-mall / stay at home moms / dad works and kids walked to school. Baby Boomers.

Christmas Vacation is suburbia, Christmas bonuses.

I always thought Die Hard was an action movie that happened at Christmas. It a good movie but not a "Christmas" movie.

Have always wondered why TBS wouldn't do 24 hours of Ground Hog's Day on Feb 2.

We watch The Great Escape every Christmas, followed by Eastenders and swearing at the Queen. Missed it this year because I was in Glenwood Springs, sitting in boiling pools high as a kite while it showed 2 feet on us. Man I feel good.
