Helped build this program into a perennial Big Ten contender. Their hard work and contributions will be felt for years to come.

But before anyone gets too far ahead on what promises to be a new beginning for the Spartans, with some 20 seniors moving on, respects must be paid to the winningest class of all time and the trail they blazed.

The Spartans' outgoing seniors left behind a legacy that exceeded any before it, winning a record 43 games. They had a 6-2 mark against top 10 teams since the start of the 2013 season.

Connor Cook finished his career as the Spartans' winningest quarterback (34-5) and all-time leading passer (9,194 yards).

His cool-handed performances in taking down Ohio State (34-24, 2013) and Iowa (16-13 this season) in Big Ten title games won't soon be forgotten. Nor will the memories from his MVP performance in MSU's first Rose Bowl win in 26 years.

And during that Rose Bowl season, it should not be forgotten that many of the Spartans who played their last game this New Year's Eve were a part of an MSU team that beat nine Big Ten team by double digits. That's something that had never been done in league history.

It's if's and but's.

Saban and DC Smart had MSU's red zone tendencies nailed.  The team looked to be going to make it a 10-7 game at half when Cook attempted the corner floater that had 3 Alabama defenders closing on the ball and was interception.

That play set the tone for the rest of the game.  The first Alabama TD was set up by a well defended almost perfect pass.  At the end of things Dantonio and staff's plan was to force 'Bama to beat MSU with a passing game.  They did.   Saban's plan was the same thing and his team has the better secondary.

DWags is right about the usual assholes. They will go to their graves making excuses for wins over OSU, umaa every time they happen regardless of the year.
