Picture A possible southern alliance with Bama and Saban?

Kind of like the one Duffy and Bear used to have?

Am I reading too much into this? Yeah probably, but here's my line of thought:

1. Saban is nearing immortality in terms of what he has accomplished. He has nothing to risk by sharing some the wealth.
2. I believe he still does have a fondness for MSU, in spite of how he left overnight.
3. The friendships with Izzo, MD and other are real.
4. The decision to cancel the series was a business decision.
5. He'd love to stick it to Urbz and Harbz. Other than beating them head to head, this is the best indirect way to do that.
6. I'm sure he's not happy about those recruiting camps.

So, this could take shape in a lot of ways, mostly recruiting. And those southern kids is the one thing MSU is still missing.

I know, I know...

You know Bryant sent black athletes north because Alabama was segregated as fuck, right.

And even that might not be true. Just read a couple links debunking the impact of Bryant influencing recruits to head to MSU.

This might be the dumbest thread of the year so far.

If you read between the lines in a few places, I think that while it is clear that Coach D respects Saban's coaching prowess and programs and is thankful for the opportunities he was provided because of Nick....he also treats people very differently for a reason. I don't think the two are very close.

Izzo I believe is indeed still close with Saban and his family.

Not recruiting for, just helping out. Say he has filled his allotment of OL in a class but still has a couple of guys that are interested. Maybe he points them up north. Maybe he makes a call or two.

I still think Saban sees him as nothing more than an assistant, and dantonio doesn't have a big problem with it

"He's certainly done a better job than I ever did there, I'll tell you that," Saban said.

Are you suggesting Plato's Retreat level closeness?
