Can I make a video and upload it to youtube?
I got a new camcorder and have vidoes of my kids basketball games - like 45 minutes 1080p. Is that like some impossible level to upload for a layman?

1) Pretty easy
2) I thought this thread was going to be about amateur porn.

Easy. 45 min video will just take time depending on your Internet connection

Whatever you do, don't ask ghost. He can't even upload a pic.

If he wants his video to upload sideways he should consider asking gHost.
Or if he wants to upload with his camera's battery percentage less than 10, he should consider asking gHost.
Outside of those two things, I agree that he should not ask gHost.

Re: Can I make a video and upload it to youtube?
I have been hung up for like 8 hours. I stopped the first one at 33% now I am hung up at 43%. I don't get the feeling it will ever move.
I did this the last couple of years on my old camcorder that used tapes - 480p? I think I had some headaches but I managed to make a highlight video on YouTube and some dvds. I thought this would be a piece of cake with this new technology.

Not entirely sure, but uploading a much higher quality video could lengthen the process. Could you start the process before bed and let it run overnight?

My kid came back from Italy with an HD GoPro taken by a Lamborghini employee/passenger a couple years ago. Forget how long it took to upload. Maybe 45 minutes to an hour...? Was only 12 minutes, though

To upload a video longer than 15 minutes you have to verify your account. Did you do that?t take time depending on your Internet connection

Well, at this point I guess I will let it run all night. I would bet I will still be at 43% in the morning or have an error message.
And I've got 5 more games. I wanted to send them to grandparents and then the team could check them out. I had thought this was just a basic thing these days but maybe it is not really practical

I've done what you're doing with old family movies that I converted from 8mm. I had to take the movie and chop it into 4 - 15 minute sections and upload it that way. I'm sure there are other ways but it worked well doing it that way and I had editing software that allowed me to cut the video into fourths.Herbie Green wrote:Turtleneck wrote:

Re: Can I make a video and upload it to youtube?
Well, it was still stuck at 43% in the morning. But after a couple more tries it actually worked - only to discover I had mistakenly saved the file in 4:3.
BUT I have since learned an answer to my question that you piles couldnt provide - Handbrake. It compresses an 8GB file to like 3GB without any noticeable loss in quality.
So it is about 4 hours to save in Windows Movie Maker, 90 minutes in Handbrake, and 90 minutes in youtube and I have a beautiful 50 minute video in 1080p. That is a hell of a long time but it has worked without me needing to do anything but click a few buttons. I am no Andy H. but I will take it.
