Clementines... thoughts?
I love clementines. It's a great on the go pocket food. And with 60% of your RDA of Vitamin C, they're pretty good for you.
But it's a crapshoot on if they're going to be good or not when you buy them. Sometimes they're too dry, or flavorless, or go moldy real fast. Other times they're loaded with seeds.
I've found Halos and Cuties to be pretty reliable, and I'll roll the dice and get them from Costco from time to time. This latest bag from there, chock full of seeds though
What say you, Swill?

I defer to InTen on the topic.
My kids love them, though, I just bought a bag today.

Maybe its the suppliers to Costco, Meijer and my local Spartan store but I have bought about 15-20 pounds of them (we eat a lot of fruit) and they haven't been as sweet as the last few years crops. Might be drought/temperature etc but same label differnt taste.

Best pocket food I ever had was McDonald's cheeseburgers in Prague from a late night McWalk window. They toasted the buns and servedthe burgers extra hot, eat one right away and saved the second one for about half way back to my friend's flat.DWags wrote:Pocket food?

I'm not reading anything about your daughter's mining accident. I was obviously tricked.

Yeah. Food I can throw in a coat pocket or hoodie pouch. Durable, relatively non-perishable, can be peeled and eaten with gloves on. I went running errands today and grabbed three on the way out the door.DWags wrote:Pocket food?

Back in the day, McD/BK burgers (just the singles) would have qualified as pocket food. I can see that.DWags wrote:pulling69 wrote:

Yeah a coat pocket....It was March and cold at night, plus your hands are full. One hand with a cheeseburger and your other hand holding the half liter bottle of beer you are drinking while walking home from the bar:DWags wrote:pulling69 wrote:

Fall of fifth grade I had an oatmeal cream-pie in my London Fog coat pocket, I forgot about it when the weather got warm. Later on when it got cold again I still had forgotten about said pocket food. Eventually after some tackle football I heard the cellophane crunch, yada yada yada I saved that pocket food item and its busted glory for the entire year to see how mangled it would get.Gomer wrote:Yeah. This. The original and best. Halos come in second. A distant third is a brand I've only seen sold at Meijers, called Clem & Tina's. I can't get enough of them, despite the problems mentioned by Gomer.

What sort of third world slaves do they have making those little wood crates? Is it kids? I would imagine it would have to be with the little staples they use to hold them together.
PS Darlings are better because they come in the wood box, Cuties and other shit are either in a mesh bag(lame) or even worse a cardboard box.

They all used to come in those wood boxes. I actually like the Cuties cardboard box better because they're a lot more durable and work well for storage in the garage and workshop.

Wont they just fall apart with any moisture contact? Google seems to indicate there are hundreds of ways to use the wooden crates, from using them for tea service to storing your spice jars to organizing your remote controls.tGreenWay wrote:pulling69 wrote:What sort of third world slaves do they have making those little wood crates? Admit it: You didn't check google; you went straight to Pinterest.
The wood boxes were sort of cool when they had the company logo stamped on the side, but now it's just heavy paper or paperboard stapled to the side of an otherwise plain box.
And the key to keeping the cardboard box strong is to not get them wet.

picked up some Halo's at the Lake Lansing Meijer yesterday.. the thing is, they're so little and transportable, you can easily eat 5-6 a day.
Tasty and packed with vitamins and anti-oxidants. It is with great fervor that I endorse the clementine.

I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.
