About this whole Connor Cook leadership thing...
I see that the players are still having to come to his defense because of what's being written in the national media (without citing any sources or incidents, of course).
Well, here's the deal...THE PLAYERS FUCKED UP! Plain and simple. They fucked up by not electing him one of the three captains. I have no clue what goes on behind closed doors (obviously), but if what they're saying now is true, then there was no reason not to elect him captain. It was a no-brainer, given that he's apparently a great guy and has accomplished more than any other QB in MSU history.
And yes, I know he came in fourth and that he was on the Leadership Council. Whatever. He DESERVED to be elected captain, and he got fucked. It's going to cost him some money, maybe a lot of money. We'll never know how much.
To avoid this happening in the future, the coaches should consider having some discretion over the process. Maybe elect a fourth captain if the players miss an obvious choice. Or maybe let the players elected 2 and the coaches elect one. Who the fuck knows....But this was a fuck up.
There, I said it. And yes, I feel bad for the kid because he's a fucking MSU hero, and he got fucked!
I mean, we're about to elect DONALD FUCKIN' TRUMP President of the United States of America, and our players can't even elect Connor Cook??? WTF?!?!

Agreed Vlad. Mind boggling how he wasn't captain this year and should have probably been last year also. If you truly like your QB and he's a proven winner he's a captain. Period. Especially a guy going into his 5th year senior year and 3rd year as the starter.

The players probably figured that since Cook was in the final four of the captain vote that he was good. Being #4 is all that matters.

Any truth to the rumor his end of half INT was his getting back at team for non-captaining him?

Re: About this whole Connor Cook leadership thing...
My advice to all qb's. The NFL puts more stick in you if you steal crab legs, rape a girl (allegedly) so the school has to settle for 959K, then grab a mic and yell "FUCK HER IN THE PUSSY" get suspended and not be able to dress for one game, and do horrible on your wonderlick test. They still take you number 1.
Come in 4th on the team as captain, and you're fucked.
If anyone is really dumb enough to believe anything but Cook's combine and college day workout will influence the NFL, there's not much one can say. Especially because of MSU's track record with qb's under Dantonio.
Oh, I'm having fish taco's in five minutes.

Sounds like we're all in agreement that Cook got fucked by his teammates. Great, onto the next thread then...
Oh, one other thing: as long as there are teams like the Buccaneers, the Raiders, the Cowboys, the Browns…every goddamn player in the draft has some hope of being the overall number 1 pick. Of course, this doesn't mean Cook didn't get fucked by his teammates (because he did), it just means that he still has a chance to be a high pick.

This is when someone plays both sides of the fence cause he's had his ass beat so often he has to cover all bases.
Jesus Vlad, it's not that big of a deal. We know you don't have a lot of knowledge about team sports and football and you like to troll. At least when Dude gets his ass kicked he doesn't get all butt hurt over it. No big deal.
So, what is it? High draft pick or 3rd round?
Do you have a strong opinion on it, or, did you just want to start a thread claiming discord among the football team (which is bullshit)?

Jesus Dwags, if it's not a big deal, I suggest you move on to another thread that is a bigger deal. Because you know, threads with bigger deals are why we post on message boards.
I don't know if there's "discord" in the team, but I do know that Cook got fucked.
As far as where I think he'll get drafted, like I said, as long as we have administrations like the Browns, Raiders, Bucs, etc., everyone has a chance to be a first rounder. But that doesn't mean the players didn't hurt CC's overall resume. He SHOULD have been a captain last year, and probably the year before that too. Calhoun and Cook should've been locks, then Allen.
So yeah, "Jesus" is about how I feel about that. But I'll get over it.

Thanks Nigel. Yes, Winston hadn't been mentioned anywhere above, so that picture is very helpful. Always good to be reminded that idiots who repeatedly shoot themselves in the foot are still often selected at the top of the draft.
How about that Manziel guy, huh? Crazy, right?
Of course, none of this has anything to do with CC getting screwed by his teammates, but pics certainly help. Who doesn't like pics?

Explain to me how not voting Cook captain equals his teammates screwing him over. Because all of the jibberish written in this thread is pure nonsensical trolling.
I don't expect a well thought out answer, just wanted to speak some truth in this dishonest thread.

Re: About this whole Connor Cook leadership thing...
We won't know whether Cook "got fucked" until after the draft.
What we know now - if Cook's teammates had elected him Captain a lot of this potentially meaningless chatter would likely not be happening.
CONCLUSION - If they had elected him Captain these 2 months would be less annoying for him. Maybe probably.

This is more of an opion, not a true/false test. Chances are that most of us agree that CC should've been elected captain, but let's not let that get in the way of a good pissin' match.
To answer your question, because:
1. He is a person of honor (according to what the players are now saying).
2. He plays the most important position on the field.
3. He has stepped up big on the biggest of stages, on numerous occasions.
4. He was a fifth year senior who had done his time and earned the title of captain.

Skipping the Senior Bowl was all about not re-injuring the shoulder and giving it more time to get stronger. Probably a smart move, depending on how he does at the combine / pro day, etc.

Re: About this whole Connor Cook leadership thing...
So, one theory I've heard is that some agents/GM's could be 'leaking' all this bad PR about Cook. They could be doing this for a few reasons, for the agents, maybe they are trying to get their guy higher on the board, and for the GM's because they want him still on the board when it is time for them to pick. At the end of the day, all of this is noise, because what he does during the interview process and combine will be more important than any 'anonymous' sources talking shit about him.

And at the very least he has had to face ongoing questions about his character. Whether that translates to a lower draft pick and $ remains to be seen.
I would think if the players do in fact think as highly of him as they claim they regret putting him in this position.

.
Let me sum this up. Cook could get drafted in the first round. He could get guaranteed up to 12 million dollars. He could be a top QB or top three taken in the first. If he does, that means Cook got fucked by his teammates.
Am I following this?
We get why you've created this thread, and here is what you can take to bed tonight:
Cook's draft position will be determined by his workout at the combine and his pro day at MSU. That's it.
If he doesn't look good, he's a 3rd rounder at best, if he is hitting on all cylinders, he's going to do well.
Now, it also depends on who is picking where and what that NFL team needs. Left tackles for a team like Green Bay, might be more important than a rookie qb. What do the lions need? Is Stafford the answer? Do they need other things more important?
If Cook rips the shit out of the workouts, he'll get drafted high. To many good things he's done and big stages. If his shoulder is still fucked up, he'll go low.
wE've had a billion examples of assholes being taken by NFL teams. Who did the cowboys call a leader this year? Some guy who beat the shit out of his girlfriend?
Cook's draft position will be determined by his workouts. But if you want to make another thread about discord on the football team, it's fine. More entertainment. It's an old scctick, but it's cool.
