Has anyone done something like this before? I've only applied to places out there and have been kinda set on moving post grad for awhile.

Now - it's actually real and it's scary and exciting at the same time. I don't care about leaving the state but I do care about the people I'm leaving. I'm pretty close with my friends from MSU, my family, and even hang out with people from my high school often.

Guess it's starting to hit me. I know it'll be a great experience and best for me individually in the long run but just crazy man.

Go for it man. it will be a great experience and even if you don't like it you will learn a lot from it. Though I had visited, and had a good friend from MSU out there, I picked up and moved to Texas after graduating. Didn't really work out, wasn't a huge fan but wouldn't change the experience for the world.

The semi-plan is to get residency in CO for in-state tuition, get my Masters out there and then go from there. That puts me out there for at least 3 years or so.

Like WBH said - I can always come back or move somewhere else. Probably won't regret doing it, but I sure as hell can see myself regretting NOT going.

Blanket judgments? It's a fact people in Michigan have lower levels of higher education and higher rates of obesity than many other states.

OTPT is going to be happy to get out of there. As long as he doesn't meet some chick from Michigan who wants to raise their kids close to family, he'll never move back.

We moved to Michigan because we a) wanted to get out of the south and b) get away from family. So we were actually excited to move.. 22+ years ago.
