Ok, so IF the closest star to earth just happens to have life, it would take more than 4 years for the beam to get there, another 4+ years for a signal back. And that's only IF they have any knowledge and technology equal to our surpassing us (but not too far past us). That would be an incredibly amazing coincidence.

With countless things that have had to go just so exactly right for our existence to even be possible in the first place (let alone surviving), the chances of another at the closest star, to be in the exact same point as us in a span of 14 billion years and counting of the Universe's evolution, would seem to be pretty astronomical (pun intended).

And if it's not at Proxima Centauri, but the other one that they would aim it at, well, that's 40+ years for a signal to get there, and 40+ years to get back, so we'll all be dead and gone by then.

I think I know more Angels and Airwaves songs, which isn't many, than actual Blink182 songs. I'm on top of some useless trivia though.

Hubby and some family all saw the same thing in Dryden. Some 3 lights in the sky hovering for a while. Then they each took off in different directions incredibly quickly. This was around 20 years ago or so. They were all kinda freaked out about it. I guess you had to be there, it sounded kinda lame to me.
