Re: 2016/2017 Red Wings Season thread
great share Floyd.
I was 9 years old when that Claude did that to Drapes, I was so friggin mad. Its crazy how important those years of the red wings were to my own development. I would watch every game that was on TV and listen to them on the radio, I had been playing hockey since I was 3 but it wasn't until I was 8-9 I started wanting to go to all these camps and play all the time. With all the extra work it led me from being a good travel player to a good AAA player and making Honeybaked that year. I owe the likes Drapes, Sergei, Stevie, Fetisov, Vlad, McCarty, Ozzie, Kocur, Lapointe. I was always a huge fan of Kozlov's game, he was a great combination of physicality and skill that I always emulated.
I love that video too, I remember Primieu snapping Ozolinsh stick at the end

We have a framed pic of McCarty pummeling the turtle hanging in our conference room, basically as a reminder not to take shit from competition and fight for what's yours.
We also have a framed autographed Trammel Jersey from his stint as Tigers skipper. Over time I've come to see it as a reminder that you can't compete if management doesn't give you resources.

I knew the Joe was a dump, and Ozzie's tour of it just solidifies it. It is a cool tour, but man are the few facilities they have run down.

Cool tour....only place I've been was the Olympia Club. Back in the 90s I had a friend with season tickets and he would eat there before every game.

Re: 2016/2017 Red Wings Season thread
Joe Louis was built on the cheap and in a hurry in the late '70's. Bill Davidson had moved the Pistons from Cobo around '75, the same year the Lions went to The Silver Dome and Norris was ready to make a deal to move the Red Wings To Pontiac.
Joe Louis was damned near thrown up like a saloon in a gold rush town to keep the Wings in Detroit. Its always been a dump. Mike Illitch made it a nicer dump.
A major reason JLS got the parkng ramp accessible off the expressway was there had been several robberies/killngs of fans leaving Olympia and that was the city's answer address safety concerns? (I called on the designers of the JLS parking deck. It was a fast design to construction project)

I don't think Scotty would come back, he's working with his son as an advisor to the Blackhawks.
Would kill to see The Captain return home... but I think he'd have to win a Cup in Tampa before he feels like he's accomplished what he started.

Bring his son with him. Screw the Hawks. I don't see the Captain coming back, always possible but idk he's creating a new legacy I feel and like you say they haven't won a cup.
Why wasn't Lidstrom introduced? I know he was there. And doesn't draper work for the team?

Wouldn't be a bad idea to kick the tires on bringing Scotty and his son here in their same roles.
