Re: Mio and area Doings
The official winter sport of Mio. I heard Loose is the only person to win both the freestyle and slalom in the same year. They have a statue of him outside the Mio Sportsplex.

Beautiful! Now that I've sold my cabin on the west side of the state, I plan to make it over to the AuSable more. For camping, it will be Canoe Harbor, my favorite little campground along the river.
Hell that's 1/2 way to my son so an easy pie delivery. Let me know when you're there.
Will do!

This thing really is fun to watch.....
Sno*Drift rally slides into Lewiston
Sno*Drift rally slides into Lewiston
LEWISTON — The annual two-day racing event Sno* Drift is entering Montmorency County Jan. 26-27, and area residents will have a chance to see some fast-car action.
Sno*Drift Public Relations Director Alex Berger said the event is the only rally that is 100 percent snow and ice, and the race will feature many types of cars.
“We are looking to have 40-45 teams this year,” he said. “It will be from all-wheel-drive Subarus down to two-wheel drive Honda Civics. Some of the front-runners will hit over 100 mph.”
Sno* Drift begins Friday, Jan. 26, and the first car starts at 1-2 p.m. The event begins in downtown Lewiston and races through Friday night with a stop at Atlanta High School for servicing.
Sno*Drift is hosted by Rally America and is organized by Sno*Drift Rally, Inc. and will feature multiple races over the two days, along with Sno and Drift regional rallies.
He said there will be many spots for spectators to watch the races, and Saturday afternoon at the gravel pit there will be warm food and a place to watch the nonstop racing.
“We are going to have a larger tent at the gravel pit this year,” Berger said. “It’s a great time.”

I have a buddy who used to race in snodrift. He gave up racing when he started a family.

“The River That Changed the World”
LANSING –– The story of Northern Michigan’s Au Sable River is currently on exhibit at the Michigan History Museum, where visitors can explore how the famed river influenced people and activities around the world.
According to a museum press release, the exhibit shows how the river influenced people around the world, provided renewal, inspiration and livelihoods and helped guide the fields of fish management and river protection.
According to michigan.gov, the Au Sable River is a major tributary to Lake Huron that drains a north-south basin that includes 1,932 square miles in North Central Lower Michigan. The basin is approximately 90 miles long and 10-30 miles wide. The river basin is partially within the Huron National Forest and includes parts of Otsego, Montmorency, Crawford, Oscoda, Alcona, Roscommon, Ogemaw and Iosco counties.
“The River That Changed the World” includes a real 24-foot-long Au Sable river boat owned by George Griffith of Trout Unlimited, on display surrounded by river scenes, as well as the Wolverine Fish Car, which is adjacent to the visitor center. The recreated 1914-1935 train car depicts how employees of the old Michigan Department of Conservation lived on the train while transporting and stocking fish across the state by showcasing the sleeping berths, a kitchen and several uniquely designed messages from the stewardship. Computer touchscreen kiosks are set up to quiz visitors on the rearing methods of fish and the history of fisheries management.

Record turnout for annual Predator Quest
It was a record turnout for the sixth annual Predator Quest.
The hunting for the event began Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. and ran through Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. where the event was concluded with a banquet, raffles and the dispersal of prizes and cash awards.

Goose, black bears are like puppies. Make sure to give the next one you see a pet on the head.
