Dear SwillWebMD,

I hurt my elbow. Please tell me what's wrong with it.

How I think I hurt it - lifting weights. Not an injury. Didn't hurt at time. Started to hurt day after. Still fucking hurts 7-10 days later.

Where it hurts - if I were to extend my left arm, palm upward, it hurts on the bottom right-hand side of the joint.

It fucking hurts anytime I have to lift anything that weighs over 5-ish lbs.

Too lazy to go to the Dr. Already tore my biceps tendon in my right arm and it doesn't feel like that. I can lift weights and it doesn't bother me. Is this tendinitis? Will it go away? How do I get it to go away? How do I get it to not come back?

I am not a doctor. I am not a physical therapist. I have lifted and set down many a weight in my life, however.

Without knowing exactly what you're talking about... I'm going with poor lifting form. It used to happen to me any time I would use an EZ curl bar.

Or you could have some serious fucking injury, the fuck do I know, right? But that's what it sounds like, to me. Plagued me for years, still does and I have to be conscious to keep my wrists straight the entire rep because I have a tendency to want to curl the wrists inwards and get a little more "oomph" out of the rep. So when you get into a habit of it you subconsciously start your rep like that.

Is it anytime you lift weights or only after you target biceps or triceps (or even shoulders/chest)?

My advice? Drink raw milk - your bones, muscles and tendons will be stronger.

I agree with Tanner.  I have a similar issue from lifting that is chronic and will not go away without surgery.  Full disclosure, I have no medical training.

It might be tendonitis or tennis elbow. It's a weird spot to hurt. I've been lifting weights off and on for 25 years and I've never felt pain there before.

Sounds like what I had a few years ago. It was tennis elbow. It takes a LONG time to go away. Took about six months for it to disappear.

It's golfer's elbow. Still hurts. It's not from golfing oddly enough, it's from lifting. I'm sick of sitting out. Going to do some stretching, found some exercises to strengthen it. Going back to the gym. Fuck this noise.

I get something similar about twice a year. Searing white pain from across the forearm just below the elbow to across and behind the bicep just above it. I even remember how it originally happened about 12 years ago. At its worst, it's tough holding a full beer without the white hot pain. That's why I never let my beer stay full for too long. It's really all about the science and common sense good health.

Damn, that sucks. I thought my tennis elbow would never go away. My boss at the time said "It's there forever, dude!!!" because he has it, too.

Although about 6 months later I was at another store tearing down fixtures, so lifting 75-lb pieces really helped regain the strength pretty fast.
