The BTN has reached agreements to be carried in New York and New Jersey
Time Warner and Cablevision have inked a deal to carry the BTN on basic cable. Comcast is expected to follow suit soon.
The NYC subscribers alone will add $48 million each year to the coffers of the Big Ten.
We knew that expansion was about money, and it's starting to roll in.

I think he has miscalculated the interest in college sports out on the east coast.

Does Charter have an agreement w/the BTN? Comcast wants to give up the state of Michigan and turn it over to Charter as part of its purchase of T-W, in order to avoid a monopoly.

Is it too late to get Syracuse, BC, Temple, Va Tech, Virginia, Georgetown, UMass, RI, Buffalo, and LIU and renegotiate?

It doesn't matter what the interest level is, those figures are based on carriage fees on the cable packages. Even if no one in the NYC market ever turns on the BTN, they'll be paying $1 a month for it.

I don't know why they couldn't just get the BTN in NY without Rutgers.
Rutgers is a commuter school. Most of the people that went to school there don't even care and 99% of NY cares even less.

I understand that. I still don't think east coasters give a crap about cfb. I think the b10 has officials jumped the shark by adding Rutgers and Maryland.

I laughed. It will never happen, but Toronto might be a smart move. Sports tickets are outrageous there. (so is everything else)

The BTN was already in NY, but because it wasn't in the B1G geographic footprint, cable companies only paid around $.10 cents per subscriber. Now that Rutgers expanded the B1G footprint into NYC the new negotiations to continue televising tB1G Network begin at $1 per subscriber.

You COULD get the BTN in New York, but now it comes on basic cable; which means every cable subscriber is paying $1 a month to get the BTN, as opposed to those who wanted BTN (which is probably on the same tier as FS2, CBS College, P12N, LHN, etc.) paying an arm and a leg, and the BTN only getting 25 cents.
