I was there. Pretty sure I made it.
If you did buy that meat, would have been better for making burgers.
I made it. I used the Kobe beef. It was extraordinary.

As a miner pretty sure you wouldn't be too particular about what meat you used. Hot, with calories and cheap would be the definition of a pasty.

Traditionally, pasties were made with different fillings at each end. One end containing meat and vegetables, and one end with a sweet filling.

At one time Cornwall had nearly 2000 flourishing tin mines, but by the 1880’s tin mining had become a rapidly declining industry. At this time, Cornish miners began emigrating to Michigan’s Upper Peninsular for copper mining bringing pasties with them.

Is that any way to talk to a few posters in a culinary thread where we share our kitchen experiences?

No. I did. Scroll back.
It was really good. Like I said, not using regular ground chuck any more.

It would be fun to try one of those original pasties with the fruit filling at one end.

The fruit end melding with the savory end? Just the thought sort of makes me want to heave.Trapper Gus wrote:The Pantry wrote:

There is tons of suger in American food. Try maple syrup on sausage. It's pretty good.
All the suger added. Big Food discovered we eat more, thus they sell more, when food is sweeter, is a big part of our obesity situation. Suger, salts, and fat. Potato chips are addictive.
Will search the internet for recipes for real, with sweet & sour ends, pasties.

Sausage, apple stuffing is a good example. But I guess it's all mixed together.

ug. now I feel shame.
That said, if those where the "greatest"... then the whole pasty thing isn't that great. It was worthwhile for a mid week dinner....

You should call up Uncle Peter’s and let them know you had a bland pasty. They have great customer service and will make it right. The one I had was great and made with grass fed hormone free beef. Yum!

No pics, no proof. Fake dough/crust was not elite, made with crisco. Pasty dough does not require working. Uncle Steve's pasty not remotely as good as Uncle Peter's, which isn't all that great.steveschneider wrote:Crust was elite. Made it from scratch and worked with it for a while. It was worth it.

Cornish miners took pasties in their lunch pails for hot lunches and filling meals. Locals will tell you that nothing goes with a pasty quite like ketchup, but in many places, you can also get gravy with your pasty.

Pic is proof the writer's an idiot. Worse yet he did it to a Toni's pasty, the one pasty least needing to be covered with the icky-sweet red shit.NigelUno wrote:Cornish miners took pasties in their lunch pails for hot lunches and filling meals. Gravy is okay but completely unnecessary if the pasty is great. Gravy turns pasty into more of a deconstructed pot pie.
