Tell me where I can find Kathryn Bigelows "Near Dark' to rent. I'll hang up and listen.

There it is!
How come when I google it doesn't turn up? Other films it shows up at the top with an available on? Is Apple store not available on google? Also, the where to stream site it says not available anywhere.
Edit: I guess to find it in my google search I have to specify Apple TV but how the fuck am I supposed to know that from the onset?

Here’s a list of others available on Netflix:

Have you watched "Earth's Natural Wonders" on PBS? There are only two seasons, and I think I've only seen the second, but it was pretty good.
I haven’t, but now I’m going to look for it. Of course, as Steve says, I’ll probably never find it, so my search will probably wind up being futile, but thanks for the tip.

Here it is....
https://www.gq.com/story/why-you-cant-stream-your-favorite-movie-anywhere
"The most pressing question here is: Why? The answer is both messy and all too straightforward. For one, we live in a content age of absurd abundance. Netflix, Amazon, and now Disney and Apple are throwing billions at creating original streaming content that people may or may not watch, often without profit, because you know… that’s the future. These services don’t feel especially pressed to offer back-catalogue binges unless they’re going to bring in massive numbers.
But that’s only a small piece of the puzzle. “In almost all cases, the real issue is rights,” August says of his industry’s more labyrinthine problem. Obtaining and purchasing rights to stream a title, thus giving its makers more money, sounds easier than it is, he says. Sorting through who controls which rights, and where they might be today (especially if a company like York has vanished), can get... complicated. A movie or show may not have licensed music for home video; a home video license may not cover streaming. Perhaps the most famous example of the latter issue is Beavis and Butt-head, which to my and other Mike Judge obsessives’ chagrin has never had a proper digital release complete with all the music videos (plus accompanying wonderfully idiotic commentary) because MTV never secured the clips past broadcast."
----"The other flying elephant in the room is Disney. The behemoth has just in the past year swallowed 21st Century Fox and Hulu whole in addition to launching Disney+, making it not just by far the market leader in movie and TV production (it would prefer not to be called a monopoly) but also a powerful digital distributor. You could buy the ‘90s Lion King for $20 on Amazon Prime Video if you want to watch it tonight, but the only way to stream the movie is by ponying up $7 a month for Disney+. There’s no reason to expect that to change. Mickey Mouse, as part of its notorious “vault” strategy to artificially stoke excitement around major releases, has quietly put both Disney and Fox titles under lock and key. Good luck watching The Simpsons unless you have a cable subscription—or, again, Disney+."
“Everything is getting increasingly siloed,” August says. “When we had everything available on iTunes or in the original incarnation of Netflix [with DVDs by mail], you knew that you could rent any given movie or buy it for a reasonable price. I’m worried that we’re going to miss not just the 100 biggest movies, but also movies that were time capsules.”"
Just wow. Fucking Steve was right again!

I think the real reason that EVERYTHING is not available on streaming is because EVERYTHING is not worthy of being available on streaming.

Just because something isn’t on a service does not mean you can’t find it on the net. Do some research and legwork.

The internet does somethings well but also has room for improvements. One should be able to offer up some constructive criticisms of the internet and challenges the internet poses without being subjected to personal attacks and ageism.

I'm really sorry that you can no longer get your porn titles in the video section of Farmer Jacks. But this thread is about Documentaries. None of your posts are relevant to the topic. It is just a stream of "what is on Steve's mind right now" posts. You derail every topic with some sidebar argument. I actually click on this thread to see if anyone has a post about Documentaries. I like documentaries. I don't click on this to see "hey, I wonder what Steve is thinking about right now". Unless it is about a documentary.
I'm sure this is fun for you. But not for the rest of us. Every single person on this board has brought this to your attention. Except for your Champion Nigel, which is not something I would hang my hat on. Every... single... one. Including OTPT who is the peace, love and granola poster of this board. If 99% of people say you are being obtuse and annoying, odds are you are being obtuse and annoying. It has only gotten worse the last few months. You weren't always this fucking way. Yep, I'm annoyed by a message board poster. Congrats. Steve wins again! I'm sure that brings you (and Nigel) great pride.

speaking of docs, been seeing a lot of buzz around the HBO doc about Q anon but I don't think I should be spending time/energy on some bullshit like that. apparently the dude outed himself as Q on accident in stupid fashion?

They say that when you want something done right, do it yourself. But when I started a UM game thread we lost, and when I hated on steve, it only strengthened his resolve. But when Nordic started a UM game thread, we won, and when Nordic hated on steve, he folded like a cheap suit. So they really should say that when you want something done right, have Nordic do it for you.
