My brother-in-law had a similar episode about 10 years ago when he was in his mid 30's.

Saw some doctors. Took sick days that lead to short term disability to long term disability TO. He found out it was an inner ear condition that was treatable but it took almost 8 month before he was back to work.

Don't blow it off.
Might be nothing but if its a big deal you need to jump on it.

OTPT, I've gotten vertigo a couple of times when I got a little too aggressive and sloppy while cleaning my ears. It went away pretty quickly.
I've also had it 3-4 times for no apparent reason and was prescribed a small patch that went behind my ear. It's called scopolamine and it worked very well. The only downside was it caused a ridiculous case of cotton-mouth.
