Dec. 5 Is Repeal Day, the Day We Got Back Our Alcohol

Dec. 5 is Repeal Day, marking the end of Prohibition. It also is a reminder of a unique episode in our constitutional history. As our Founding Fathers intended, it’s hard to amend the Constitution. The last time it happened was 1992, when the 27th Amendment was passed to prevent congress from voting a pay raise for themselves that immediately goes into effect. (Instead, they need to wait until the next term to reap the benefits.)

Alcohol is a curse on society.

I'm boycotting the repealment but more power to everyone who can drink responsibly.

Imagine if there was never prohibition. So many famous figures might not even be famous, like Capone, Lansky, and even Nucky Thompson.

The Dukes of Hazzard.

Franks Eastside Tavern is one fo the first bars to open back up after prohibition.  It's really great.  Just on the fringe of Mt. Clemens.  It's in a basement.  You go in the door, and you go directly into the basement.  If you're over 6'1" you'll hit your head on the ceiling.  It was a speakeasy as a farm house in the 20's.  If  you're ever in the area, you need to have a drink there just to see an old speakeasy.  They have pictures of the cops busting that place back in the day, 126 Avery St.  In the Clem.  Great burgers and if you want a fried bologna sandwich, they'll make it for you.   People from 21 to 90 years old are in there.   couple of pictures.  Very cool bar.  .

Still cracks me up seeing people in vests and ties as everyday dressing attire back in the day.

And then they'd go home to sit around the dinner table and then retire to the parlor to listen the radio dressed the same way.
