I will default to my dad's opinion on this topic as he was there:

movies he refuses to watch a second time because they are too real: Full Metal Jacket, Platoon

Movie he likes that also makes him cry: Good Morning Vietnam

TV series he liked: Tour of Duty "it smelled like 'Nam when he watched", Magnum PI(lots of flashback scenes that were "real" and we were also in Hawaii as it aired, MASH(show set in Korea but was actually about Vietnam).

ghost, go back and re watch AN. it just doesnt hold up. cappola tries waaaay too hard, and there is too many nonsense scenes like the playboy bunnies and Frenchman . would rather want to know how a guy who doesnt so speak the language becomes a God among the natives. and why were there so many bodies all over the joint? totally unnecessary
